Northern Section alum. Congrats Ethan!!

[Pitcher DIGS @DigsPitcher]

I'll say this. Colusa's 2022 team was so dominant (33-1, lost in the state championship), and Ethan Lay's numbers were so eye-popping, as were his teammate Luke Kalfsbeek's, it was one of the big reasons I wanted to start calculating DIGS for high school. Lay led NorCal in WAR.

When I was a kid, the Twins drafted Kyle Lohse (Hamilton City native), which was the coolest thing ever to me. I wrote him a letter & got back signed cards & a handwritten note from his wife. Now, Ethan Lay will inspire other kids from NorCal small towns!

[Cal-Hi Sports @CalHiSports]

Ethan Lay from small town Colusa and son of Colusa High athletic director/baseball coach Eric Lay just got picked in the sixth round of the MLB Draft by the Twins. Ethan also from Sacramento State and was one of state's top small school players when playing for his dad.

[Joe Davidson @SacMedia_JoeD]

Only two players in the greater Sacramento area were picked in the Major League Baseball draft, both from ⁦@SacStBaseball⁩
Has Sacramento dried up baseball wise? No. But the draft has changed https://t.co/uX56EhyjsM

From a town of about 6,000 people in Colusa… to hearing from MLB teams

Sacramento State pitcher Ethan Lay is turning heads in the WAC and drawing national attention this season.

The Hornets are one of the more befuddling teams in the nation.

@SacStBaseball is somehow under .500 despite having wins over the leaders of the Big Ten, Big 12, Atlantic 10, Big East, Big South and Mountain West conferences and took a series at last year's national champs.

[Eric Lay @EricLay73]

@JamoSacSt Don’t forget a win at Kansas as well!!

[United Athletic Conference @UAConference]

Another HUGE upset for @SacStBaseball as they take down No. 1 UCLA!

This is the Hornets' second win against a top-two nationally ranked team this season! 🤯

4’s down and Stingers Up!!

SAC STATE SALVAGES THE FINALE VS UCLA. FIRST WIN OVER #1 IN PROGRAM HISTORY 🔥🔥🔥

Hornets were a collapse on Friday night from potentially taking this series.
