@mcuban And most are also vertically integrated providers disadvantaging providers they contract with. They are also repricers and utilization reviewers motivated to make providers miserable and to increase their cost thru endless hoops and ladders
I don’t think people realize how much healthcare costs are driving big companies to fire and not hire.
It costs them $30k per family, per year for premiums and care. Most of that goes to the massive, vertically integrated insurance companies that send weekly bills that no one reviews in details. And it doesn’t include the company overhead to deal with it all. It’s usually the 2nd largest expense after payroll. Which is insane
It’s far easier to blame AI than it is to blame Healthcare costs.
Want to increase jobs, wages and improve affordability for every American ?
Break up the biggest insurance companies. Make divest non insurance companies. They don’t need thousands of subsidiaries. That’s how they game and abuse the system and increase costs for all of us.

Hinge Health just published a 26-page report arguing patients should see physical therapists first.
One small problem: they don't provide physical therapy.
92% of providers agree PT should be the front door to MSK care. 5% of patients actually walk through it. Hinge says they want to fix that gap—by making sure patients still don't see PTs. They see an app. They see AI. They see stick figures.
The report is beautifully designed, well-sourced, and makes a compelling case for our profession. It's also written almost entirely by MDs, with the conclusion penned by Hinge's Chief Medical Officer.
You truly cannot make this up.
My full breakdown—including what they got right, what the methodology doesn't tell you, and why this is really a Q1 investor narrative wearing a lab coat. Read link or subscribe to my substack https://t.co/IeNeWqyfow
🎧 It was a pleasure to join @darshanshahmd on his podcast EXTEND, where we got to chat even more about the fact that humans evolved to be walking creatures, but modern life has taken that movement out of our daily routines.

What's not in Hinge's S1 filing-physical therapists! Is digital physical therapy, physical therapy? Employers and IPO stock buyers beware. It is interesting that all the analysis you read (and there are plenty), claim it is digital physical therapy, it isn't but they do use "musculoskeletal" a lot! If you read the fine print, this is what you will find:
Their services focus on digital care programs, which include exercise therapy, wearable sensors, and personalized health coaching. The filing does not indicate that Hinge Health directly employs physical therapists to provide in-person therapy sessions. Instead, their model revolves around digital
interventions and support from a “care team,” which may include health coaches and other professionals, but not necessarily licensed physical therapists delivering hands-on care.
If employers are really smart, they will find plenty of great hybrid options with real (e.g. licensed) physical therapists

In athletic development, not many pre-puberty achievements matter. Global movement competency foundation and injury history do matter, though. Play multiple sports, experience a wide variety of stimuli, and don't get hurt. Specific adaptations come later.
