If your church believes LGBTQ+ people should be discriminated against when it comes to membership, leadership, sacraments or anything else... just say that. Own it.
Stop hiding behind "everyone is welcome" and be honest about your theology.
@katie_gutz@TIME Jesus, Katie, what a story. I hadn’t seen you on twitter in a while and I wondered if something was going on. I’m sorry for this trauma and loss, and I’m happy you found answers and a way forward. ❤️
@ambernoelle There are two types of people: those who vow to never to repeat the bad treatment they received, and those who dig into the “righteousness” of repeating it. To heal and do better is much harder; sadly the natural tendency is to repeat what we experienced and try to justify it
@aprilajoyr Feels like we’ve lost sight of what a wedding is supposed to be: your community—like real community, kids and all—coming around you to celebrate your union and witness your commitment. It’s become this over-the-top event that needs to be fun and perfect and show off your “style.”
@azdilla31@notcapnamerica I don’t think it’s about attempting to not come off a certain way. It’s about finding true healing for yourself. Healthy parenting will naturally follow (most of the time) :)
@emilykmay In college, my “best friend” said I had a “butt-shaped” nose and teased me for my thigh gap, which I later learned is actually generally considered desirable??
