Actually, we are the original scientists who basically started dentralized science. The crypto industry eventually introduced the term "DeSci" (Decentralized Science) to describe projects implementing real-world use of blockchain technology in scientific research, which is what we have been doing already since 2018, long before this term was introduced. Kindly stop trying to lecture scientists and start listening to us. For instance, we have been the first to decentralize HIV cure research. What that means is bypassing the traditional centralized funding from government agencies by using blockchain technology as an opportunity to expand novel biomedical research. Not because they are evil or corrupted, but simply because there isn’t enough support for true innovation for the right mentality. What you are theorizing, we are already doing in practice. But how can we convince the world that this is a way to disrupt science? By producing valid, peer-reviewed research. For instance, we have been the first to explore the vaccination effect of SupT1 cells as a decoy target for the HIV virus. Using the unexplored strategy of replicating the conditions observed in natural non-human primates hosts of the SIV virus, which do not develop AIDS, by providing the virus with an external subset of cells where it can replicate to become increasingly less aggressive. And we produced the first in vivo study exploring this novel cell-based therapy approach, published in Vaccines, a peer-reviewed scientific journal with a 7.8 impact factor. https://t.co/9olXTCYWKD

And we produced the only in vivo data on this approach, meaning that this research only exists due to decentralized funding. We would like to shift the focus from the conspiracy theories to the science itself. Instead of talking about evil or corrupted centralized entities, we wish to talk about how we used blockchain technology to provide freedom for performing innovative research. And that means having peer review, an independent assessment certifying the quality of the proposed research as valid science. Decentralized science is based on science. Science is based on peer-reviewed scientific publications. There is no science without peer review. As such, there is no legit decentralized science without scientific publications.

This is a key point. If we want to convince the scientific community, not just that decentralized science can expand traditional science, but to join us, if we want to get them onboard, we must speak their language, which is a scientific language. And that means producing peer-reviewed publications. Now, just as you mention the possible drawbacks of the traditional centralized ways of funding research, there is also a dark side related to the crypto industry, where the focus is on speculation rather than utility. With a lot of “meme coins” trying to sell value created out of thin air. We understand that peer-reviewed science takes years to publish in prestigious journals, while it only takes a few minutes to create a token and some narratives. And there will be many projects that will do just that, and call it a day. And in order to preserve the credibility of decentralized science, we must stick to legit science. Not narratives, fairy tales, or pseudoscientific approaches. But valid science.

In this regard, we wanted to set the blueprint for legitimate decentralized science, which means having our data, tools, and methods undergo rigorous peer review. Accordingly, after we issued INNBC DApp, our DApp specifically designed to easily record and share biomedical data on the blockchain, we started to work on a scientific, peer-reviewed study documenting the DApp and its validity as a real-world tool for blockchain-based biomedical data storage. Given that peer review is a very rigorous process, requiring us to address all the requests of the peer reviewers and journal editors and go through several revisions, it took 3 years to complete the study and have it accepted for publication. And it was published in the prestigious @BioMedCentral journal "BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making," part of the Springer-Nature network, a leading publisher of the world's most prestigious scientific journals, and is available online at: https://t.co/yOgtfORfYV.

We understand this is not a path many are willing to take, but it’s the only way to create legitimacy for this industry. And given that we are addressing an actual PhD here, @hubermanlab, he deserves nothing less.
