I keep thinking about how Disney decided to portray John Ratcliffe as the villain and Pocahontas' people as innocent and peaceable "noble savages", when the truth was 180° from that.

1st generation offspring (ICSI-F1 - the stage we have been witnessing the last ~20 years):

- No visible congenital defects. Pronounced behavioral deficits (cluster c traits - social avoidance, anxiety, impaired spatial memory). Phenotypically “normal” overall.

2nd generation offspring using F1 sperm (ICSI-F2 - the stage we are about to witness in the next 5-15 years):

- Significantly reduced implantation success. Severe congenital defects. 29.6% of F1 pregnancies ended in F2 death (inc extremely early fetal death by 16.9 fold compared to the preceding F1 rate).

- 11.2% of surviving F2 offspring had skull defects, severe eye abnormalities (small, open, or missing), herniated umbilical cord, & brain fluid problems.

- Behavioral deficits persisted but shifted in character from F1. Reduced locomotor activity/speed, social novelty preference, & impaired fear-memory conditioning but didn’t retain the more natural & “human-relatable” anxious cluster c traits identified in F1 — Essentially a lack of “life force” and desire to thrive is how I interpret this.

3rd generation offspring using F2 sperm (~30+ years from now):

Severe congenital defects incl missing head & limbs.

Statistical frequency comparable to F2. Only severity seems to increase. But F1 > F2 increased both in rate & severity.

Most concerning find of all:

Scientists couldn’t identify the imprinting mechanism. The reasoning behind the defects is unexplained.

The type of evidence that is being used to reassure patients of good future generational health failed to predict actual outcomes.

There remains an unidentified structural blind spot.
