sora roadmap update: in the spirit of building this app openly, here's what we're landing soon.

first, more creation tools. character cameos are coming in the next few days: you'll be able to cameo your dog, guinea pig, favorite stuffed toy, and pretty much anything else you want. you can also create cameos of generated characters straight from your sora videos.

we're expecting people to register lots of crazy new cameos with this feature. to make them easier to find, we're updating the generation UI to show the latest trending cameos in real time.

we're also adding basic video editing capabilities to the app, starting with stitching together multiple clips, and we'll add very powerful new features here soon.

second, we're working on making the social experience much better. we are exploring new ways to use sora with your friends (versus just a global feed) and broader community. think channels that are specific to your university, company, sports club, etc.

third, quality of life. the feed has quietly gotten much better recently, and there are more improvements on the way soon (shoutout to @turtlesoupy and team!). team is hard at work continuing to reduce excessive moderation of gens (we know it's super annoying). we're also working to increase the overall performance of the app to feel snappier everywhere.

finally, the android version of sora is actually coming soon.

First @OpenAI Atlas browser use case. Find me a course and late morning tee time on Halloween for my son and I if the weather will be nice. Then add it to my Apple calendar. My only intervention was confirming the time, logging into my golf and iCloud account. Worked perfectly.

I've always loved the magic of turning words into movies...and now I can bring to life the most vivid details I can describe or intentionally leave space for the AI to create something beyond my imagination. I have laughed so much this past week bringing to life old stories and inside jokes with friends...and it's only going to get better.

Nothing beats Cubs baseball in Oct. But spending time with @OpenAI Sora this week has been a close 2nd. I can see, with enough patience (and higher limits), how @shykids was able to create "air head" with such quality and consistency. AI is going to disrupt everything but it's also going to give us superpowers. It will turn our weaknesses into strengths and our strengths into something extraordinary. For the short term we'll keep making slop of @sama and @mcuban floating outside our doors on Ring cam.

Many of us grew up in a generation where we would get pictures developed the next day and have to wait an hour for some still images…the next generation is gonna wake up and instantly create a feature length movies about the night before. Digital personalization just leveled up.
