As quickly as they came, they left. Beachgoers witnessed the first launch of the year on Florida’s Space Coast this evening. SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket carrying a @OvzonAB satellite from SLC-40 at 6:04pm EST.
The Milky Way last night from a dark-sky site in Florida. Pointed toward the Cygnus region, an area rich with h-alpha emission nebulae.
The Andromeda Galaxy can also be seen in the top-right quadrant of the image.

The Milky Way stretches over marshland during low tide last night under some of Florida’s darkest skies, with clear skies and beautiful seeing conditions making it worth the long trek from home before the galaxy’s core disappears for a few months. Great night under the stars!
A close view from the landing zone as a Falcon Heavy side-core booster returns to the launch site after a job well done lifting @MissionToPsyche into space.

What goes up eventually comes back down. If you're a Falcon 9, you're likely landing somewhere. And if you're the #Psyche spacecraft, you've just embarked on a ~2.2 billion-mile journey to the main asteroid belt for science and discovery—two pillars of NASA's mission.
Congratulations to @NASA & @MissionToPsyche for persevering along the long and winding road to launch. You've made it! May you have fair winds and following seas on your cosmic journey.
