@ZakA77ack@teleken@JasonIsbell Every iteration of hospital training I've had includes a section on why leaving medical records locked in your car is reckless enough to be considered a HIPAA violation..... Because that's too much risk to take with people's private information. But sure, why not a loaded gun?
Who decided that this boils down to:
"This study found that sex discordance between
surgeons and patients (particularly male surgeons and female patients) may contribute to worse surgical outcomes."
Why say 'particularly' when you could say 'exclusively'?
Why the parentheses?
Female pts had worse outcomes when surgeon was male.
Male pts had "comparable or better" outcomes when surgeon was female.
Saying "sex discordance" is associated with poor outcomes is technically true ... but obfuscates the actual findings!

"while
sex discordance was assoc w worse outcomes for female pts (aOR, 1.11; 95% CI, 1.06-1.16), it was assoc with better outcomes for male pts (aOR, 0.96; 95% CI,
0.93-0.99)"
@joshmcgoo ππ yes! Have been so disappointed by the number of physicians --even ones who trained in the past 10-15 years-- who talk about lifelong learning and keeping up with the literature, and in the same conversation say that using someone's correct pronouns is "just so confusing"
If Mayor Bronson was 'deferring to his doctor,' he would be vaccinated. If you can't be helpful, just stop talking.
'Bronson...has "no intention of getting the vaccine...[I]f somebody wants to get vaccinated, Iβm going to have them defer to the doctor."

So many training opportunities, including the month I spent in Palmer with Alaskan kids and parents during my pediatrics rotation this past winter, would end without Alaska WWAMI. The sunrises weren't bad, either. #akwwami
After 1.5yrs of clinicals & covid, while applying to residency, it's hard to have the bandwidth to even absorb the reality that Alaska WWAMI is on the chopping block again. There would be no meaningful upside to this--only Alaskans with fewer doctors to take care of them.
Zero COVID19 has never been the goal in U.S.(nor a realistic one), and as such transitioning COVID19 into becoming endemic and decoupling infections from hospitalizations should be the primary goal.
The COVID19 vaccines help us achieve exactly that.
@TherapistGamer@bonniedsnyder I'm sorry to hear that!! But glad to hear that there are hospitals still covid testing all inpatients. Definitely not true everywhere.
Question for anyone working at a hospital: Are patients routinely tested for covid on admission to your hospital? Or only if symptomatic? I've worked in 10 hospitals since the pandemic began and it's hard to tell what policies are changing over time vs between locations.
Practicing detailed neurologic exams on my colleagues and just wondering... If being 'alert' means they're responding appropriately to their environment, and they don't laugh at my jokes, are they really neurologically intact? #thinkaboutit#themoreyouknow
