Over the next few days, weeks, and months, lawyers, VCs, CEOs, and immigrants will be coming out of the woodwork proclaiming things like: “Ending H-1B will destroy America,” “It’s racist,” “It’s un-American,” and “America needs country X or Y.” This is all false. Keep fighting.

Here is how each of these groups benefits tremendously from the broken visa system:

Lawyers: They make money from the massive number of LCA, H-1B, and PERM filings every year. Immigration law is a massive industry built around navigating and maintaining this system. That represents roughly $1.8–$2.1 billion in annual legal work.

VCs and CEOs: They get access to cheaper labor. H-1B workers make roughly 16% less in salary.

Immigrants: Many view America as an economic opportunity zone where the benefits go far beyond your job: a potential pathway to citizenship, U.S.-born children, access to some of the world’s best healthcare, education, and economic opportunities. And when those benefits disappear, many will simply return to their home country.

Ask yourself: How does any of this benefit Americans, America, or your future children?
