Jim Rohn: "A few simple disciplines practiced every day — and you've started a whole new life."
"After today, you don't ever have to be the same again. Only by choice."
One discipline. Then another. That's how everything changes.
The people you work with may hold an outdated view of what you can do, and sharing your ideas beyond your organization is one way to change that.

Command Every Room event this coming November.
You wrote the book. You know the material cold. But a book and a talk are two different animals. What works on the page (the detail, the nuance, the chapter-by-chapter build) often falls flat on a stage. Read from your book and the room drifts. Summarize every chapter and nobody remembers anything.
Meanwhile, audiences are more distracted than ever, and most author talks blend together. They have the same tone, the same slides, and the same “here’s what’s in my book” delivery.
When that happens, it doesn’t matter how good your book is. Your talk gets ignored. The authors who get invited back aren’t the most polished. They’re the most human.
This two-day workshop will help you turn your book’s big idea into a talk that commands attention, creates real connection, and leaves people wanting more of you. It works on a stage, on a podcast, or on a virtual summit.

Hard pill to swallow: Stop paying for bad coaching.
It's costing you credibility.
Every time someone tells me, "You're too expensive," I think exactly the same thing.
They're probably comparing my fee to someone else's.
They're not comparing the outcomes.
That's a very different calculation.
I've seen executives taught to keep their fingertips pressed together for an entire presentation because it supposedly makes them look authoritative.
After about two minutes, it just looks... strange.
I've worked with teams who were told:
"If you're nervous, look over the audience's heads."
No. Your audience knows you're avoiding them, and the disconnection makes you feel even more anxious.
"Imagine the audience naked."
Really?
If that's the best strategy we've got for helping leaders communicate, we're in trouble.
The real cost isn't paying for excellent training.
It's paying for training that doesn't change behavior or worse, actively makes people less authentic, less engaging, and less trustworthy.
Benjamin Franklin said:
"The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten."
I've watched that play out for more than 15 years.
Organizations often come to me after they've already invested in coaching that left people with outdated tricks instead of lasting skills.
Communication is too important to build on myths.
If you've got an important conversation coming up, I'd love to help.
I'll spend 15 minutes helping you make it dramatically stronger for free.
I've had the privilege of coaching leaders at NASA (yes, even the astronauts), Google, Johnson & Johnson, and hundreds of TED and TEDx speakers. Now I'd love to help you.

IT WORKED! Thousands of Americans sent letters to their senators, and this weekend the Senate passed its version of the government funding bill, including a pause on the OMB rule that would hand political appointees control over federal science grants.
The pause runs through December 11, so it's not permanent. But it happened because people spoke up, and the Senate listened.
It isn't over, though. The House already passed its own funding bill, and it doesn't include the pause. Now the two chambers have to agree on one final version before the government runs out of funding.
Contact your House Representative and tell them to back the Senate's language on the OMB rule: https://t.co/DJRtgW5dLx
