MPs have BACKED @sarahjolney1's Lib Dem bill on electoral reform. This is a historic day for fair votes.
Today, as we have done for a century, Liberal Democrats are leading the fight for fair votes and making sure that no one can be ignored in our democracy.
Fixing our broken electoral system, introducing fair votes, and making sure everyone's voice matters is the best way to rebuild trust in our politics.
We are grateful to all MPs who have backed our call. The government must now listen to the will of the House, make time for the legislation and make fairer a votes a reality and we will be holding their feet to the fire to make this happen.
Lib Dems believe councils are crucial in unlocking communities' potential
But Labour @ExeterCouncil cut vital services eg. community grants, street cleansing & @ExeterCAB
Written to Exeter’s MPs for sustained rise in council funding tied to local need: https://t.co/4ubdGUpjDl
Deeply disappointing our motion for WFP pause & rethink was rejected by @exeterlabour en-bloc last night.
They will let pensioners go cold this Winter. Challenging for pensioners to claim & leaves many on wrong side of the line for vital support.

Let's make the #CANBill happen!
Passed its 1st reading today & has a broad coalition of support from all major parties. But both #Exeter's MPs (@steve_race & @David__Reed) are yet to back it.
You CAN make a difference! RT & email your MP to urge support: https://t.co/X1HIEnwhVu
Today, Roz Savage MP launched her Climate and Nature Bill. 🍃
This bill would compel the Government to help achieve climate and nature targets, reduce carbon dioxide emissions, halt oil and gas exploration and imports, and reverse nature decline.

Proud to attend and speak at the @Right_2Roam@EveryonesStars rally outside of the Supreme Court today. Access to nature is a fundamental necessity for all of us. It’s a tragedy that this principle must be tested, yet again, in the court room.
If you are particularly supportive of improving Exeter's bus corridors as a whole, there is also a petition you can sign in favour: https://t.co/fGARk0N95a
@DevonCC is consulting on improvements to four bus corridor areas in the city: https://t.co/1M6qmvJoBD
Better bus infrastructure not only improves the reliability of buses, it also improves blue light response times, taxi costs, and cycling safety.

Instead of wasting money on failed schemes like the Rwanda Plan, let's process asylum claims quickly. Return those who aren't refugees humanely, and welcome those who are.
@MichaelCla62251 Agreed, @ExeterCAB provide vital frontline services & we're strongly opposed to their support having to be cut.
We put pressure on Labour to reverse the cuts (which have also lacked proper consultation) in the council chamber, on leaflets & in our city council manifesto.
18,144 #Exeter pensioners set to lose out, on incomes from just £11.5k
Labour want Winter Fuel Payments tied to Pension Credit but 1/3 don’t claim & cliff-edge support risk
Awareness & threshold review crucial to prevent pensioners going cold this Winter

Ed: asks emotional question about what advice Starmer would give a full-time carer forced back into work to earn enough to care for his wife - now set to lose winter fuel payments.
Starmer: the Tories crashed the economy! We need to stabilise it by letting old people go cold.
🙄
Lib Dem leader Ed Davey asks the PM what advice he has for pensioners facing rising heating bills this winter
Keir Starmer says the government has taken “tough decisions” to “stabilise the economy”, but will put "all the support in that we can"

The Erasmus Scheme provides a fantastic opportunity for young people to study, teach and volunteer abroad.
The new Government should be more ambitious about rebuilding stronger relationships with our European neighbours.
This site could serve so many much needed purposes - including hosting a market, performance venue, or social housing.
But Labour are taking steps to make it a car park.. despite the impending climate crisis & 6 within 500m with plenty spare capacity. 1/3

The news comes as @ExeterCouncil sets plans to hike already high parking charges across #Exeter.
Car parks are one of ECC's few revenue raising powers. Make no mistake, this is a cash grab by Labour following their wasted millions & new govt's refusal to fix council funding. 2/3
