7 years ago, at my PhD Graduation, my Advisor gave me this picture of my last days in grad school grading papers, father-ing and finishing up my Thesis. His point was that Grad school had successfully built into me some level of multi-tasking that would be vital for success 🤓😎
Results here are promising to suggest continued focus on Trem2 activation in AD. They show rescued cognitive and synaptic phenotype with just 2 weeks of Trem2 activation. Would be nice to interrogate other AD models and older ages. Exciting nonetheless 🙏🏾

Exciting findings that could "re-write" two decades of dogma that microglia are not replaced by infiltrated monocytes. Or perhaps humans experience recurring pathologies that elicit monocytes replacement of microglia. 🤯. does it happen in mice as well? https://t.co/bhaANMpFGA
Notably comprehensive work identifying cMAF as a transcription factor specifying perivascular macrophages and facilitating its regulation of CSF flow and hypercapnic arterial blood flow. 👍🏾https://t.co/QTnHgBGji7
Hi all, I am going on the job market, and I have made a website containing important information and documents. You can find that here: https://t.co/mjdTqo8ZVo
Please pass along to anyone who is hiring. Thank you!
Fascinating new findings suggesting through epigenetic assessments that human microglia are replaced by infiltrating monocytes in aging challenging the notion that yolk-sac derived microglia are maintained without infiltration throughout (human) life. 🤯https://t.co/XXUHGtKKe1
Fifteen years after microglia were first implicated in synaptic pruning, this new study now implicates B cells originating from the skull bone marrow in synaptic pruning. So much for the "immune privileged" brain 😉 Cool findings from @soyonhonglab's group https://t.co/6qMwFXRcTY
This guy is killin’ it: T32, postdoc fellowship; Career Development Award; Nature Communications papers; now K99 and he’s on the job market. Most importantly a great person, scientist, and colleague. Huge congratulations @astrecyte 🎉🤩👏🏾
I'd like to announce 1) that I have received my K99/R00 award entitled, "The role of microglia-pericyte signaling in maintaining basal capillary tone in health and Alzheimer's Disease" and 2) I am on the job market.
The MicroglEyo Lab turns 8 today🥳. We've trained 9 postdocs, 5 grad students, 6 staff members from 9 countries and 5 continents; we've published 38 papers, 15 grants and given 104 seminars/talks. We've received much help from so many to build this foundation for the next 8😉🤩!
Our latest study showing novel sex differences in
· astrocyte density and synaptogenic factor expression;
· excitatory synapse density &
· neuronal activity
through hormone-regulated microglial MerTK-dependent microglial phagocytic action in the developing somatosensory ctx🤩
The picture is how it started; this story is where we are at: https://t.co/HFz3Or3NZN. Beautiful story on (newly minted) Dr. Kareem El-Ghazawi from the @PeirceLab through whom @PeirceShayn and I jointly mentored! Always delightful to see successful individuals 🤩.

@jonykipnis Jony, this is really nicely put! I like the second point especially (putting "life" and "work" in conflict). It gave language to some of my concerns. I have recently been modifying the term to "work-life integration". The actionable focus of point one is also golden. 👌Olga!
