@petitecheryl This is pretty straight-forward. The Discos can apply the credits against their income tax liability and apply for a refund of any excess. However, I am sure their preference would be for the deductions not to take place at all so it does not impact their cash flows.#kpmgtaxchat
@Akindeleadeola1 Yes they can. However, this isn’t very straight forward. Most Gencos sell to NBET which is a Government agency and so is expected to deduct the VAT charged at source. Therefore the Gencos may never get the opportunity to recover any input VAT unless they apply for a refund.
@Akindeleadeola1 There is also the issue of whether the Gencos actually include VAT on their invoices to NBET which is a more serious matter as there are stiff penalties for non-issuance of a VAT invoice. #KPMGTAXCHAT
