Today’s story behind the numbers: This #FBI and the lifetime lockup of the leader of a violent gang that trafficked in drugs and murder.
John Pena and the Gorilla Stone Mafia—a faction of the national Bloods gang—were vicious drug dealers selling heroin, crack cocaine, and other narcotics on the streets of New York. They violently protected their turf with bloodshed, threats, and intimidation.
Pena was recently convicted at trial and received a mandatory life sentence late last month. The investigation was led by the FBI’s Metropolitan Safe Streets Task Force in New York, a force multiplier for protecting the community and taking dangerous thugs off the streets.
The FBI continues our record-breaking nationwide crackdown on gang violence, disrupting 2,450 violent gangs and criminal enterprises since last year—up 322%.

CASE UPDATE from @FBIKansasCity: Union Leaders Convicted of Racketeering, Fraud, and Embezzlement of Union Dues
A federal jury convicted a North Carolina couple, a Missouri man, and an Ohio man in relation to a scheme involving theft of union-member dues through the award of no-show jobs, lavish travels and dinners charged to the union, unearned vacation payouts, and an unauthorized $7 million loan made to a union-related bank. According to evidence presented at trial, the defendants embezzled the funds of the Boilermakers Union over a 15-year period.

From approximately December 2025 to June 2026, Mohamed Sagha participated in one or more online chat groups wherein supporters of the Islamic State of Iraq and al Sham (ISIS) discussed, among other things, potential attacks on targets within the United States, including places of worship.

CASE UPDATE from @FBIHouston: Sugar Land man sentenced for role in conspiracy involving smuggling firearms to Iraq
Hassan Al Gharawi, 54, will serve 63 months in federal prison following his conviction for conspiracy to violate gun export laws. From 2020 to 2021, Gharawi conspired with others to knowingly stockpile, conceal, and transport firearms in vehicle parts bound for Iraq. The defense argued Gharawi acted under duress from traffickers in Iraq, but the jury rejected those claims after seeing the extent of his involvement.

Our latest operation focused on identifying and apprehending individuals seeking to engage in sexual activity with minors and demonstrated the strength and effectiveness of coordinated law enforcement efforts.
Through this strong interagency partnership, the operation resulted in the arrest of 11 individuals who traveled to northern Ohio with the intent to have sex with underage children. Those individuals are now being prosecuted through the justice system.

CASE UPDATE from @FBICincinnati: A Germantown man has been charged with illegal possession of a sawed-off shotgun and destructive devices.
Tony Houston, 40, was arrested after a search of Houston's residence recovered a sawed-off shotgun, as well as at least eight apparent destructive devices, including pipe bombs. The #FBI's elite Hostage Rescue Team responded quickly to mitigate the threat. The Joint Terrorism Task Force and Germantown Police continue to investigate.

Alongside many of FBI Cyber Division’s trusted industry, US government, and international partners, Deputy Assistant Director Todd Hemmen participated last week in the Paris Cyber Summit 2026, stressing the need for continued international collaboration to impose costs on cyber adversaries. He highlighted the FBI’s joint operational successes with Europol and international partners and discussed how the cyber threat landscape will evolve in response to continued advances to AI.
Today’s story behind the numbers: This #FBI and the takedown of a prolific predator who used “sextortion” to terrorize children and families across the country.
Ramanan Pathmanathan of Toronto, Canada, spent years hunting down children to exploit. He ultimately contacted at least 145 young girls and boys over social media.
Posing as a teen from New Jersey, Pathmanathan coerced these minors into exposing themselves and engaging in sex acts with their siblings, other relatives, and even dogs. He then recorded these activities. Pathmanathan threatened to send revealing images to their family and friends if the children refused his demands. Some victims were as young as six years old.
Pathmanathan was recently given a 33-year prison term in the U.S., following a massive investigation by the @FBIHouston Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
This FBI continues our historic, nationwide crackdown on violent crimes against children and child abusers—arresting nearly 3,000 child predators and human traffickers since last year (up 70%) and identifying or locating nearly 7,000 child victims (up 144%).

This week, a #Sacramento man was charged with unlawfully possessing explosive materials at Sacramento International Airport.
According to court documents, he attempted to go through a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint at the Sacramento International Airport and board a flight at about 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026. He was wearing a scarf covering his face and latex gloves on his hands. In his carry-on bag, he had an M-type explosive device and a torch lighter capable of lighting the explosive, as well as a knife, scissors and scissor blades, an aerosol can, and zip ties, among other items.
