Quite a few legislators who in the past enjoyed very gerrymandered seats apparently haven’t noticed their districts have changed. They’re offending lots of constituents by refusing to talk, meet or even give a half-polite response. There’s an election just days away & we do vote.
It's heartbreak season for PA advocacy organizations.
Another legislative session has ended with nothing accomplished on scores of important issues.
PA can't afford another session like this one.
We need a legislature that works for the people of PA, https://t.co/40dZMZab7N
Still waiting to hear from rural members of @PAHouseGOP@PASenateGOP about failure to vote on broadband, mental health & well-capping fixes, charter reform, Clean Streams Act, regional options for EMS & firefighters.
@PAGOP set the agenda so why the FAIL on everything promised?
Imagine passing a bill worth 2 billion in tax credits over 25 year span, with huge impacts on PA environment & economy, with NO public comment, discussion of data, time to amend or assess unintended consequences.
What organization would pass ANYTHING with that little scrutiny ?
Legislators talk about time needed to consider, debate, fine-tune bills. But they can break every rule & pass a bill in a day, as they did this week.
Implications of PA EDGE will be with us for decades.
Some good, some bad. no transparency at all. https://t.co/yl5ObdaSyO
Every major party candidate for PA House & Senate received at least 6 email requests from FDPA asking for thoughts on redistricting & legislative rules.
Most non-responders also heard from constituents. Some seemed offended voters would ask questions.

Delay & half measures are common themes for @PALegislature. $100 million allocated to address mental health needs likely delayed by inability to agree on recommendations from bipartisan commission.
"Incredibly disappointing" to @PACountiesGR director.

Legislative rules allow @PAHouseGOP & @PASenateGOP leaders to shut out the voices of huge parts of Pennsylvania.
We are all harmed by a legislative process that blocks #BipartisanSolutions & wastes legislative time on partisan games.
Our children are being poisoned by lead & the only bill our legislature can pass is as thin as lime-flavored seltzer. It says a physician "shall consider possible lead exposure."
Thus we "shall consider," and DEMAND, that our 253 well-paid legislators actually DO something.
Why do @FairDistrictsPA & @LWVPA say #FixHarrisburg?
Legislative rules limit opportunity for reform.
Less than 7% of bills introduced get a vote.
1/2 the bills introduced in 1 chamber are ignored in the other.
Partisan gatekeepers can block #BipartisanSolutions forever.
#SB106 highlights extreme dysfunction in PA legislature. @PAHouseGOP @ @PASenateGOP leaders are dismantling constitutional rights & legislative due process to maintain partisan control. Hasty process & sloppy language endanger every one of us.

Craig Holman @Public_Citizen says "PA is not in a good place, as far as ethics. It’s really at rock bottom."
@mepollack of @EndPACorruption: “When you go into Harrisburg & talk about making bribery illegal, they don’t want to have that conversation.”

US insulin is 5 to 10 times higher than other countries. That profit all goes somewhere: pharma; insurance; legislators' campaign funds.
@SenatorPatToomey: who do you represent?
Certainly not over 1 million Pennsylvanians who need insulin every day.
How do you sleep at night?
In today's @PhillyInquirer a writer asks, "Why all the subterfuge?" by the PA legislature. The clear answer: Legislative leaders are sneaking things through because they don't want the public to know.
#FixHarrisburg so the public interest isn't undermined by sneaks and lobbyists!
Does ANYONE in PA feel like they're being heard?
@PAHouseGOP & @PASenateGOP have spent recent years pushing bills they know a majority of PA doesn't want & @GovernorTomWolf will veto, rather than working on #BipartisanSolutions recommended by their own bipartisan commissions.
"Pennsylvania lawmakers have failed to," the article begins. The bill "has sat in committee since February 2021."
.
Whatever the subject, it's the same old tune: #bipartisansolutions offered, legislative leaders ignore them.
.
We need to #FixHarrisburg.

#Jan6: “Trump’s efforts amounted to a power play to win at all cost, with no regard for the will of the American people.”
Why PA?
For research & debate: did decades of #Gerrymandering normalize partisan extremism & utter disregard for will of the people? https://t.co/j933YdnWWE
