Global crisis and then Trump makes some kind in surface advantageous trade deal to the US in exchange for China annexing Taiwan. It could be the chance they were expecting. The world will see this as fair given the behaviour by US.

1 - Venezuela ( Locked in by Trump)
2 - Russia (Loosing a large fraction of export capacity due to Ukraine strikes)
3- US itself

Do you think they will happily accept to become fully dependent on US for oil?
