West Bengal Govt has passed a new project named ‘Khel Nagari’ that is planned to be constructed over the entire land, which will include a shopping complex, housing complexes etc. Due to this project the entire ecosystem of Dumurjola shall collapse. #SaveDumurjola#StopKhelNagari
"we need to strip environmentalism of its white garb because if we do not fight for the present – there is no future."Excellent piece by @disharavii. Must read.
“World leaders, through their decisions on how to limit global heating, are the powers deciding who gets to live and who gets to die.” The great @disharavii. https://t.co/F6eI7hyEGw
#COP26 has been named the must excluding COP ever.
This is no longer a climate conference.
This is a Global North greenwash festival.
A two week celebration of business as usual and blah blah blah.
One thing that I find hard to bear is that I have the message of climate emergency and I am able to articulate it clearly and with emotional truth, but I have nonetheless failed to get that message to the mainstream. I do my best though, at least I have that.
Don't get me wrong I'm not advocating for anyone to voluntarily give up flying - I very well aware only one in a million will do this - I am instead asking for policies to divert that remaining carbon budget to actual needs while we transition as fast as collectively possible.
We have six years of carbon budget left for a fighting chance to stay under 1.5°C of global heating, which I fear also will not turn out to be a "safe" threshold. If there ever was an emergency folks this is it... yet the sky is still full of planes like a tic tac toe board
COP26 starts today and will continue till 12 November. Will there be any discussion regarding the carbon footprint of armed forces? No, because it's politically inconvenient. This is why we need new politics.

A new policy brief by several researchers
https://t.co/3TfYFpGVUE
argues how -India’s ambitious climate commitments are relying heavily on land and forest-based mitigation solutions without doing enough to significantly reduce the CO2 emissions from energy and industrial uses.
Researchers and advocates urge @moefcc to "develop a Forest Rights Act-based climate action plan and ensure that India’s climate policies & strategies are implemented in full coherence with the framework of the FRA and the rights of forest dependent communities" ahead of #COP26
Referring to 1.5 C as a 'safe' level of climate change is deeply blind and disrespectful (for want of a stronger word) to the hundreds of millions of people already suffering at 1.1 C
Marshall Islands foreign minister Tony de Brum: “Displacements of populations and destruction of cultural language and tradition is equivalent in our minds to genocide."

1.5C was only included in Paris because island nations refused to sign up to a 2C deal. Why? Because they said 2C is genocide. They refused to sign their own death warrant. Now it's clear rich nations never intended to try for 1.5C, will there be a punishment for genocide?
