I wish @MmusiMaimane focused his energy on the content of education and not the pass mark.

I personally don't think a child getting 50% is that much better than a child who gets 30%, especially when the content is rubbish.

We have 40% tertiary graduate unemployment rates, of kids who got over 60% in their matric results.

With all that energy, the focus should be on teaching kids how to run spaza shops, how to grow fruits & vegetables, how to make money online, how to SOLVE BASIC PROBLEMS.

If a kid got 30% in the things I've mentioned, they'd be better off than a kid who gets 65% in the current education system.

Until we overhaul the content of schools, even if we take the pass rate to 80%, nothing substantial will change.

I do not think my generation was better just coz we had a 33% pass rate. I don't think things will get better, just coz we have a 50% pass rate.

CONTENT OF EDUCATION AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC ISSUES ARE THE BIG EVILS WE SHOULD BE TACKLING.
