The new Minister for Home Affairs, Deputy Helen Miles, speaking in support of funding for the Fire & Rescue Service. The Government Plan must deliver on the objective to ensure that the risks faced by Islanders, visitors and firefighters, does not result in an avoidable tragedy.

Our thoughts are with the 72 people who died & those affected as a result of the Grenfell Tower fire. 5 years on & the Inquiry continues; their legacy must result in safer buildings & effective responses to such incidents. They must never be forgotten.

Can treat married and unmarried persons equally to avoid negative impact on them, yet cannot treat older and younger firefighters equally when both contracted to the same pension provisions. SEB discriminating by age because the @StatesAssembly voted to do so

The Minister for Treasury & Resources confirmed during her hearing with the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel that nobody will be worse off under the proposed changes to Personal Taxation. Scrutiny is reviewing this proposition and will monitor its progress. #ScrutinyJSY

@StatesAssembly Commendable attitude @susie_pinel, treating people evenly. Unfortunately not the pension transition stance applied to firefighters who, due to age alone, were treated less favourably than older colleagues with the same contract @StatesAssembly

32 firefighters to suffer financial detriment due to pension legislation which is discriminatory by nature but permitted by the Discrimination (Jersey) Law.

The UK government discriminated against firefighters & must now restore pension rights.

Our firefighters, purely due to their age, must pay more & work longer to receive less of the pension they were contracted to.
