Drop Site contributor Mohamed Ahmed speaks with Ibrahim Labad, whose daughter, son-in-law, and two young grandchildren were burned to death after an Israeli strike set their Gaza City apartment ablaze shortly after midnight.

“I only saw myself and my wife. Everything else was darkness and fire… they pulled us out through a small opening under the door. I didn’t know what had happened to my children.”

Later, he learned that five members of his family had been killed and several others, including young children, wounded.

“Every day there are martyrs. Every single day. Everywhere in Gaza there are martyrs,” Labad said.

The strike was one of several that hit homes across Gaza City overnight, killing and burning alive at least nine Palestinians as families slept. Fifteen others were hospitalized with severe injuries.

Nine-year-old Hala Labad was the only survivor after the attack killed her parents and three siblings. “What war ended? It only ended for one side,” her grandfather said to Drop Site.
