After about a year working on my game in my spare time, I finally released the trailer and the Steam page.

We just played the Chosen Anyway demo by solo dev Rafael Diniz (@FaelD5). You play as Ryn, the apprentice from Ironfield School who gets chosen by the Sacred Light instead of the expected top warrior from Vanguard Academy. Now he has to journey across regions and prove the Light didnโt make a mistake.
The core loop is turn-based roguelite deckbuilding. You build and enhance your deck during each run through card battles against enemies and bosses. The twist we enjoyed is the permanent progression. So, cards scale with your carried-over RPG stats, and between runs you pick talents, craft/enhance equipment, and grow attributes that actually change how future decks play. It gives real incentive to experiment and makes each attempt feel like it builds on the last.
We had fun chasing synergies and seeing the characterโs growth pay off in combat. The aesthetic and 3D are really nice. We would like to endorse it.
We looked for comments people left about it. The demo only went live around June 12 (right in the recent Next Fest window), so public player impressions are still very quiet, mostly the devโs own announcement posts on X, Instagram, and Facebook hyping the release with the usual #IndieGame #Deckbuilder #SteamNextFest tags. Pre-demo (Steam page launched ~March), Reddit threads in r/IndieDev and r/IndieGaming had some constructive feedback: people liked the concept but wanted more environment variety in trailers/screenshots, better visual differentiation on cards, and clearer emphasis on the RPG-stat scaling as the hook. One commenter said it โlooks amazing.โ On the Steam community hub the only post so far is the devโs quick ultrawide UI fix patch on launch day, thanking the player who reported the bug. No review threads, big playthroughs, or widespread takes turned up in searches yet.
From our session the core systems already feel solid for a first solo game and the stat-driven card scaling gives it personality. A downside for us were music and sfx in general. As with many early indies thereโs still polish to come (dev has been open about working on animation, card visuals, and variety), but nothing that got in the way of enjoying the runs.

One card can change everything.
Defend at the right moment, charge your Special, and face powerful bosses to unlock new regions in Chosen Anyway.
Could you defeat this boss?
