The Deputy Governor Of Lagos State, @drobafemihamzat today, joined His Excellency, President @officialABAT GCFR to observe the Eid prayers at the Dodan Barracks Praying Ground, in Lagos.
Today, I accepted the nomination of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), as its gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 Lagos Governorship Election with deep gratitude.
I am truly humbled by this honour and I thank Almighty Allah, our party leaders, and every member who has placed their trust in me.
My journey started in Mushin, shaped by hard work, service, and the belief that government must improve the lives of ordinary people. Over the last two decades, I have had the privilege of serving Lagos in different capacities alongside exceptional leaders who laid the foundation for the progress our state enjoys today.
I have seen firsthand that governance is not easy but I have also seen what is possible when leadership is guided by vision, courage, and a genuine commitment to the people. As Deputy Governor, I understand that keeping a megacity running requires careful planning, experience, and steady leadership.
My decision to run comes from one simple question: how do we build a Lagos that works better for everyone? I am running to serve all Lagosians. Whether you are a fisherman in Badagry, a trader in Mile 12, a mechanic in Yaba or a corporate executive in Victoria Island, this government will work for you.
We must continue to invest in transportation, jobs, education, healthcare, security, and opportunities that give people hope and dignity. We must build a Lagos where no one is left behind and where every child can dream beyond the circumstances they were born into.
I am proud of what we have achieved as a state, but I am even more excited about what lies ahead.
I thank His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Her Excellency First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governance Advisory Council and our dedicated party members across the 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs for their support and belief in this journey.
A special thank you to my wife, Oluremi, and our children for their unwavering support and sacrifice.
The stakes in 2027 are high but with your partnership, we will keep Lagos moving forward and continue building a future we can all be proud of.
Thank you for your trust, your prayers, and your support. I do not take any of it for granted.
Together, let us build the future of Lagos.
Happy Married Life to my bro, One of the best photographers that I know, Fiyinfoluwa Adeyemi 📸 @Fagskill, as he weds his soul mate 💍 Iyanuoluwa Oyeyemi, today in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Today, I received the endorsement of our leader and the President of Nigeria, H.E. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as the official APC candidate for the 2027 Lagos Governorship election.
I am indeed very grateful for the vote of confidence and endorsement. I am fully aware of the responsibility it carries. I am enthusiastic and looking forward to continuing on the good work and the foundation the President has laid in Lagos State.
Lagos state is an ongoing project because we are the yardstick for development and progress. There is still a lot of work ahead, we have an election to win and a legacy to protect.
I therefore remain focused on the journey ahead.
Today, I am honoured by the endorsement of my Governor, my brother and my friend, HE Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
His trust means a great deal to me. We’ve worked side by side in the service of Lagos State, and I don’t take this vote of confidence lightly.
I remain committed to building on the progress we’ve made together, and look forward to serving Lagosians with integrity, focus and a clear sense of purpose.
I paid a consultation visit to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudasiru Obasa, where we had a thoughtful discussion on the direction of our state.
I took the time to share my priorities for Lagos State and I remain committed to doing the work that keeps our state on track.
Today, I also met with GAC member, Senator Ganiyu Solomon as part of my ongoing consultations and we discussed the future of Lagos.
I drew on his experience and perspective, reinforcing the need to stay focused on what truly matters to Lagos and the work ahead.
As part of our sustained efforts to eliminate open defecation and improve public sanitation across Lagos State, we currently have 1,710 functioning public toilets strategically located across the state for residents and visitors.
However, government cannot do this alone. We are encouraging businesses such as filling stations, banks, eateries, and other public-facing facilities to make their restrooms accessible to the public where possible. This collaborative approach will significantly complement government efforts and expand access to sanitation facilities across the state.
At the same time, we continue to enforce environmental sanitation laws. Individuals caught engaging in open defecation are being arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law. These measures are necessary to protect public health, preserve dignity, and maintain a cleaner environment for all.
Access to sanitation is a shared responsibility. While government continues to expand infrastructure, residents and businesses must also play their part in ensuring Lagos remains clean, safe, and habitable.

Today, I began consultations with respected members of the Governance Advisory Council. We had honest, thoughtful conversations about the future of Lagos and the kind of leadership it requires.
I value the experience and guidance shared. This is about listening, learning and working with others to build a stronger Lagos.
Oloye Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo, Balogun of Owu Kingdom et Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Jagaban of Borgu Kingdom.
You don’t get to see things like this often.
THE GREAT JOURNEY
There was a time when Former president Olusegun Obasanjo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu stood on opposite sides of Nigeria’s political battlefield.
Back then, Lagos under Jagaban @officialABAT flew the banner of the Alliance for Democracy, while the federal government led by President Obasanjo was firmly rooted in the People's Democratic Party.
It wasn’t just politics,it was a full-blown confrontation. From withheld local government funds to intense institutional pressure, Lagos stood its ground. Tinubu resisted. Obasanjo pushed back. It was power versus defiance.
But time has a way of reshaping battles into lessons.
Years passed. The dust settled. The same Tinubu who endured pressure became a central force in national politics. The same Obasanjo who once clashed with him now acknowledges his place in Nigeria’s story.
And then came that moment yesterday, two men, once fierce rivals, meeting with calm, exchanging respect, even bowing to each other.
That image says everything.
Resilience is not just about surviving opposition ,it’s about outlasting it with dignity. And sometimes, the person who once stood against you becomes part of the circle that recognizes your journey.
Life is funny like that.
Today’s opponent… tomorrow’s unexpected ally

YORUBA - THE OMOLUABI CREED OF RESPECT
We revere our elders, not in the delusion that they cannot be wrong but in advancing the principle of reverence for age even in disagreements or our attempt to offer corrections when elders stumble into error.
OBJ and Asiwaju have always occupied opposite political ranks since 1999, two lions circling, each determined to best the other.
Even in 2023, Asiwaju paid OBJ a courtesy visit and few days later, OBJ endorsed another...
Yet, Asiwaju being far younger will always accord OBJ the respects his age and contributions to Nation building deserves.
And OBJ, if he is truly an elder and not merely an old man, must find it within himself to reciprocate. Which he too had always displayed.
Is there any culture as beautiful as this?
If you are a proud Yoruba child, let's see you here.
