@zeromoder So, it's like the cycle of repeating the same stuff over and over has gone on too long and needs to be put to an end to make way for something new?
@MarsSuccessor I do appreciate the willingness to take risks and not make every decision with a profit incentive in mind.
But the way he QUADRUPLES down on "I don't care if the game makes any money" is utterly bizarre.
@SyPoNecroCDi Hot take(?) but the "two regions" part of GS/HGSS is horrible and i'm glad they've never redone it.
Instead of 1 good region you get 2 half-baked ones. Kanto is thus inferior to it's RBY/FRLG counterparts and Johto has always been mid. It deserves it's own game for once.
@SerperiorSuper@LustfulRemnant@PokemonGems That's definitely a huge appeal but sometimes the games just fail to live up to it. I think every kid who watched the anime thought Onix was badass and wanted to use their own, but their choice to make it the first boss neutered it's stats and made it a disappointment.
@LustfulRemnant@PokemonGems I think so, but creating a cool UB-Human fusion design for the antagonist's final battle and then NOT having the player fight it directly is just such a waste IMO.
@LustfulRemnant@PokemonGems Of course these are games marketed to children and I think “Kid’s first RPG” is a thing that the market should definitely be providing. I’d just love to see a hard mode or something that does more with the battle system.
@LustfulRemnant@PokemonGems I really want to see them explore non-symmetrical boss battles more like they did with Eternamax Eternatus, Titan/Noble Pokemon and like they *should* have done with Nihilego-Lusamine.
@PokemonGems Battles are so volatile opponents don't have room to set up, and often the player setting up is pointless when they can just switch pokemon around for OHKOs anyway.
@PokemonGems 2x damage isn't all that uncommon.
The real problem is that HP pools are incredibly low compared to incoming damage. Often a SE hit with STAB and some EVs will OHKO an opposing mon.
@PuckTran@dubesdee@witchymoonmoth@Gatrsmol Guy who thinks every single short has to be prefaced with another internet tirade about how this is just my opinion and you're welcome to disagree.
@MafarkaReborn@SoliSolitaires Which is a shame because with the sheer amount of content, stuff like pokeathlon and all the work that went into following Pokemon, these games are otherwise amazing. But the core gym challenge / battling experience is the worst in the series.
@MafarkaReborn@SoliSolitaires It's a pretty big flaw.
Spending half of Johto stuck in battles that aren't threatening in the slightest but also give no exp massively drags down the experience. it's much worse than "too much water", battles being a bit slow or Dexit.
@OliveEtVinum I'm not sure if it's possible but i'd love to see both in the same game and tied into the progression, make it a real 3D metroidvania.
Start each playthrough slow and lumbering like DS1, endgame is performing crazy map skips with Duskbloods/Nightreign/AC6 movement tech.
