Early start today for 400 folks as we gathered for the annual Scottish National Prayer Breakfast. First Minister @JohnSwinney led off with readings of scripture.
Well done to Andy Witty and his team for once again pulling off a great event.
@GilburnSarah It’s heartbreaking, it’s a systemic failure as it’s across the board. If there was strategic planning, proper funding and not firefighting issues as they arise things wouldn’t have got to this point.
Why are these services so underfunded and no strategic thinking engaged until it starts falling apart!
These are real people who deserve respect, safety and a meaningful life.

“Family Trauma: A Broken Care System”
This looks like a great piece of work and course.
It gives context to how we as a family have felt about dealing with ‘the system’

“We don’t send a child away, we bring them in closer,” says Jenn. “They will be with an adult; supported time to co-regulate and bring heightened behaviours down.” the marvellous human that is @JKnussen 💜💜
On this #learningdisabilityweek I thought a wee clip of my adult daughters first ever festival (awakening the festival) would demonstrate the hope to see more activities and opportunities like this for the needs of young learning disabled adults being realised in Scotland
"If I could tell people one thing it would say, please come and talk to me. Don't ignore me. I'm just a person." 💜
This #LearningDisabilityWeek, we want people with a learning disability to be seen, heard and valued.

This will undoubtedly be hugely triggering for so many people.
Why does this continue to happen? Because our children are different in mind or body? Why is it allowed?
They're human beings - just like everyone else, when does it stop? When is it not OK?

@CazMac38@ScotGovFM @_KateForbes @NHSForthValley It feels constant in many areas and unfortunately gets worse as they go through transition to adult services. (That’s another story) Im so sorry you are going through this - your daughter’s life should be valued more highly than this 💔
Us Mums don’t want to take to social media and expose our most vulnerable moments of pure desperation, however life for parent carers in Scotland is full of constant fighting for rights that ‘in theory’ should be ours, please help. @ScotGovFM @_KateForbes @NHSForthValley
Distressing Post!
I am sorry for the emotional video but this is how that phone call affected me this morning whilst I was trying to work and organise Freya’s trial for BIPAP ventilation for home. I don’t want anyone to see me having a vulnerable emotional episode but I have to show this to support my fight for Freya’s life 😥
Please re-tweet to expose NHS Forth Valley’s disregard of my daughter Freya’s life in relation to them being unsupportive of her urgent need for life saving equipment.
I requested @NHSForthValley to allow Freya's home care staff to assist her father and me in caring for her at Glasgow Children's Hospital while she underwent a 4 day trial for life-saving equipment for her breathing. However, I was informed this morning by a senior member of Forth Valley staff that they would not support Freya with her staff during the trial in Glasgow - this means she can not have the trial. Upon hearing this news after waiting for almost 6 months for this to go ahead I was deeply upset and been distressed ever since.
This is the harsh reality of Freya’s life and the way in which NHS Forth Valley has consistently failed her since she was born, leaving her with a life of suffering that they have never ever valued or apologised to her for destroying.

I've signed @mencap_charity's petition calling on @DHSCgovuk to stop people with a learning disability and autistic people being detained in mental health hospitals when they could be living in the community with the right support. Will you sign too? https://t.co/juN6XkS22H
Suspect this is happening in each LA. Very similar to our story in regard to being left without support because of unsuitable local services. Glad that things are starting to come together after 7 months and lots of upheld formal complaints and meetings.
