FF7 Remake Director Naoki Hamaguchi reconfirmed he is now the Head of Square Enix’s Creative Studio 1!

That means he is not only directing the FF7 Remake project but also Kingdom Hearts 4 is a project that is under his studio’s watch.

“While I may not be able to do everything at once, I’m not only a game director, but also head of one of the studios within Square Enix.

Looking ahead, the number of projects I oversee as head of studio will likely increase. Regardless of the form they take, I will continue to deliver engaging experiences to the game fans who have high expectations of both me, Naoki Hamaguchi, and the work of my studio. That commitment will not change.”

I’m loving how more & more games are abandoning live service for single player. DRAGONSWORD AWAKENING was originally a gacha game, now it’s coming in July 2026 as a premium single player action RPG

And all the characters who were in “packs” will just be gained through gameplay now. I hope we keep seeing more of this.

Lots of cool games that would be sick to play if they leave behind live service. Nice!
