@JoshYohe_PGH I mean, he put up 67 points in a pretty tepid offensive enviro with the worst PP in hockey, had great underlying #'s, and just turned 25. The meat of his prime was just secured for less than $10mil per. It is inarguably a good deal for the Flyers.
@ArmandKilljoy I think there is a level of physicality necessary to be a top 10 WR that can serve as the feature piece of an offense. I don't think that guy is Smith, and he's more comfortably in the 15-25 range where a lot of the guys are interchangeable.
@linoutlaw I think he can still defend the rim if he is anchored near the paint but there are so many perimeter shooting 5's these days that he can't get out to and it kills us (see NYK series as an example).
@SuitableAlias I find the conspiracy stuff silly. We'll just waste each other's time. I would just say you are deluding yourself if you truly believe there are not things well within MM's control that would positively impact his standing & minutes.
@SuitableAlias ...or maybe he comes back in better shape, worked on his skating, isn't helplessly pinned to the perimeter in the OZ all year, and is more responsible in his own end? All things within 'his' control. Crazy, I know...
@CliffNotez_ Absolutely. A rim-protecting, rebounding big would be much more valuable to this roster than whatever Joel gives them. He is a horrendous fit for this group.
Even if Embiidβs status is somewhat up in the air itβs embarrassing that he hasnβt reached out to Brown. Feels like he is sulking because it doesnβt all revolve around him anymore. This org has backed him for years, be a leader and embrace something thatβs good for the team
@jaydee4777jd@SuitableAlias I would have interest in O'Reilly as a stop-gap at the top of our lineup. Slot everyone more appropriately, even more importantly give our young winger core the best chance enviro for success, and let the C's in system develop. Maybe work Josi into it, too?
@SuitableAlias@MinkaB6170 Love that he's working out with a bunch of other NHL'ers. Can only serve to help him with his habits, etc. Very encouraging - we need a huge year out of him.
@jasonmyrt Keep in mind, though - he's going to be paid HALF ($9mil) of what the elite guys are now going to be getting. So you'd still be very much able to take a big swing if a truly elite 1C comes available in the next 12 months. Larkin would be a great add.
@StevenOsh12 We need a huge year out of him. Not that we wouldn't have even if LC came, but especially so now. Need him to come into camp with his hair on fire (in sick shape) and I need RT to make an effort to incorporate/accentuate what MM does best.
