@JamesArcadi@monkofjustice I believe Pittsburgh provides separate numbers for 1 service, 2 services, an amount for leading Sunday education time plus mileage.
How is this not a conflict of interest?
I find it impossible to believe Bp Hawkins never tried to shape Weber's opinion.
Why? B/c Alan DMed me, a random layperson, disclosed confidential things over the course of 4 phone calls, & was displeased when I did not comply. 🧵

We spoke with two witnesses for the prosecution who disputed the verdict's statement that they “had not participated in diocesan leadership” and “possessed no firsthand knowledge” of Bp Ruch’s conduct, and that assigned minimum evidentiary value to their testimony on this basis:
Why is this an issue? Because Ruch was basically charged with professional malpractice, just like Weber, and an observer with knowledge of these circumstances and likely sympathies would question the impartiality of the “Presiding Officer” and his rulings in the matter. +
@MBurtwrites@drewcollins@Concordia_Luth@AngAesthetics@hlgriffin I also think that sexual misconduct is the one sin that American Eva sees as immediately disqualifying (for at least 6 months, but not always permanent). Other failures are excused as necessary byproducts of great leaders or brushed aside claiming good intentions.
@monkofjustice Yes, the Presentment was accepted. After that, all that matters is determining if a crime was committed.
Circling back around to "but we think how the presentment came to be was wrong" is misdirected whining, and it's shocking that that's the whole basis for the decision.
Organizing my thoughts/observations in this thread.
In short: this reads like the perhaps predictable church family system version of "but we did the best we could," where parents/leaders want to be judged by their good intentions rather than the harmful impact.
