Who Opposes DST Permanence?
Farmers and agriculture: They’ve historically opposed DST (and the myth that it was created for them is false, livestock and crops follow the sun, not clocks).
Permanent DST disrupts schedules further.
Parents, schoolchildren, and early workers: Darker winter mornings (sunrise pushed later, often after 8 a.m. in northern areas) raise safety concerns for school buses, commutes, and kids.
Health/sleep experts: Many favor permanent standard time for better circadian alignment, linking DST to higher risks of obesity, stroke, heart issues, sleep disruption, and other problems. Permanent DST offers some benefits over switching but lags behind standard time.
In short, consumer-facing businesses tied to evening and outdoor activity gain the clearest economic upside, which is why they’ve long lobbied for it. The bill’s fate depends on the Senate, where opposition (e.g., over winter mornings or health) could stall it again.
@Gitmo99 Most people would have said I need to get a job. Life is cruel, to those who think they have all the answers to questions that have not been asked.
The questions that have been asked are answered, to survive you need to get an education (GED, HS) and a job.
The first time it happened to me I did not understand, but when I figured out the Tostitos angle, it all became clear.
It was made even more clear when you hear people in the nearby campsite yelling, one right after the other. The first instinct, apparently is to shoo them away. To that folly, they are immune.
When dealing with professionals, the only option one has is compromise.
@Viralfizz Whatever is going on, I would have put a drainage pipe at the bottom and a weed shield behind the retention wall. Not to mention 3/4" rock to allow the water to escape before the dirt decides to redesign the wall.
