New Year’s Resolutions are usually tired, vague, and recycled.
Exercise. Read more. Save money. Travel. These are the staples. But if it’s so simple, why are there so many fat, dumb, poor people who don’t have passports?
Nonetheless, here are mine for 2024:
1. Don’t argue with idiots.
2. Get to know your neighbors better.
3. Throw out or donate everything in your closet that you haven’t worn in a year, albeit with a few exceptions.
4. Exercise every single day, even if it’s just a long walk.
5. Watch the sunrise as often as possible.
6. Try ayahuasca.
7. Use two phones, one without any apps. It dramatically increases productivity.
8. Take a solo vacation.
9. Minimize the consumption of all mainstream media, limited to only basic awareness of what people in echo chambers are digesting.
10. “Read more” is too vague. Start an intimate book club; mine has two people, including me.
11. Write more. Don’t wait for inspiration; force the habit with 1,000 words a day minimum.
12. Take an American road trip.
13. Learn a new skill: Mine is photography with a camera + photo-editing.
14. Expand your knowledge: Mine is learning to effectively use AI to improve my professional efficiency.
15. Minimize consumption of sugar, alcohol, seed oil, processed food, sodium nitrates, factory farmed proteins, and exposure to microplastics.
16. Play a competitive sport: Mine are pickleball and golf.
17. Get a comprehensive medical exam with full blood work and genetic testing in January. Implement the consultation recommendations. Use a medical expert outside the insurance network; they are controlled by Big Pharma.
18. Make the bedroom technology free after 11pm.
19. Be kinder, even when a situation calls for anger or abrasiveness - just not all the time; calling balls and strikes is a moral obligation.
20. Get prepared for social, political, and economic turmoil, even if it is a low probability event. Buy land and guns.
21. Write down short term (daily) and long term goals; cross them off the list once accomplished.
22. Be a better person to a smaller group of close friends. It’s so obvious, but people seem to forget: you can choose your friends.
23. Cook more. Hosting intimate parties is like having your own private bar or restaurant.
24. Shower before bed every night. Decompress mentally, get clean, and sleep better.
25. Go to bed tired; it’s a powerful concept when you think about it.
The impact of fathers, especially on the lives of young girls, is too often dismissed and diminished.
So I wrote down some unapologetic advice for my daughter.
Happy Father's Day!
------
1. Stand up straight.
2. Know how to change a tire, but whenever possible, let a man to do it for you.
3. Your physical appearance matters. That’s the world we live in, and it’s also how we’re wired.
4. Inner beauty — intelligence, personality, confidence, and a sense of humor — becomes more important as you get older. Wits never sag.
5. Know that you are more beautiful than you will ever give yourself credit for.
6. It’s my job to keep you safe. That’s why it’s also my job to teach you how to use a gun.
7. Take good care of your skin.
8. Don’t worry about dieting. Eat healthy, exercise, drink in moderation, and everything will fall into place.
9. Gender is not a social construct. Embrace the differences between men and women.
10. Read more. It allows you to borrow someone else’s brain.
11. It’s safe to assume that almost every man you meet will want to sleep with you.
12. If anyone says its okay to be fat, they’re lying to you.
13. Let him pay for dinner most of the time.
14. Just because you can fit into that tiny dress doesn’t mean you should wear it.
15. Don’t sleep around.
16. Play sports. You’ll probably run, throw, and fight like a girl, but that’s magnificent.
17. Money is important. It won’t make you happy, but it solves many of the problems that will make you unhappy.
18. You will most likely regret getting a tattoo.
19. If you are blessed with the gift of being able to create and shape a life, embrace it. You’ll probably find it more rewarding than any career, but you can still have both.
20. You have all the power over boys. Let them cherish and revere you.
21. Ignore the boos; they usually come from the cheap seats.
22. Don’t try to party like one of the guys. You won’t metabolize alcohol at the same rate, and that’s how bad things can happen.
23. Success is doing whatever it is that you love, and doing it well. But… (See #17)
24. Just because your brother might go on spring break with his friends doesn’t mean you can. (See #6, #9, #11, #22)
25. Finally, remember that rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of a smart, strong woman.

Naval for kids. 2 years ago my nephew and I had conversation on important ideas from @naval
Turned his ideas suitable for a 11 year old conversation. Back then he forbade me sharing the project on any social media. He changed his mind last week, sharing this now.
