On Monday morning, at the Prime Minister’s request, in the presence of the Minister of Justice, the Prime Minister and I met at Sándor Palace.

Our discussions confirmed that the Government assesses and interprets the constitutional role of the office of the President of Hungary in a manner that deviates from the Fundamental Law, on the basis of unilateral political expectations.

Once again, I stated unequivocally that this provides no constitutional basis for my resignation, and that, faithful to my oath to comply with and uphold the Fundamental Law, I am not in a position to accede to the demand that I resign.

According to the statement made by the Prime Minister in the presence of the Minister of Justice, the Government intends to amend the Fundamental Law through person-specific legislation, with the aim of removing me from an office that I lawfully hold. This constitutes political patronage, thereby compromising constitutional principles.

The constitutional crisis arising from this course of action would deepen divisions within society and damage the international reputation of Hungarian democracy, potentially affecting, among other things, Hungary’s access to EU funds conditional upon compliance with rule-of-law requirements.

Today, we took long-overdue action to restore science, accountability, and the rule of law.

In September 2023, the Biden FDA pushed a number of peptides into Category 2 — “Bulk Drug Substances that Raise Significant Safety Risks” — driving a dangerous black market that puts Americans at risk.

Now, after nominators withdrew 12 peptides, the FDA will remove them from Category 2 and will bring them to PCAC at its next two meetings, beginning in July—where independent experts will rigorously evaluate each substance on its scientific merits using full clinical, pharmacological, and safety evidence.
