Looking for input on who this red friend could be. My colleague sent me these photos and I unfortunately don't have more detailed ones. The fungal looking organism is growing under Rosa woodsii in the Great Basin Desert. looks saprophytic to me, would love suggestions!

Spicantopsis one of lastly recognized genera in modern Blechnaceae. Only 3 spp. but all in East Asian Archipelago. One of them, hancockii, is just reconfirmed Taiwan-endemic in our recent paper (Taiwania 68: 148‒154). OK, I found photo only for his sister niponica... #FernFriday
