It was with deep sadness that PCR and the interventional community learnt today of the sudden passing of Alain Cribier.

Professor Cribier changed the face of cardiology forever by creating the transcatheter aortic valve #TAVI, but above all he was a true gentleman, a kind-hearted and generous person, who endeared himself to his colleagues and cared deeply about his patients.

Our most sincere and heartfelt condolences to Alain Cribier's family, colleagues and loved ones - may he rest in peace.

A UN resolution in 2022 has declared this day henceforth as the International Day for Interventional Cardiology to raise awareness of CVD & procedures as well as prevention and care. It notes that interventional cardio-angiology improves health, increases life expectancy and improves QoL, and the importance of angioplasty as a life-saving procedure.
