Does this explain some of the finding that diagnosed case prevalence is lower in some unvaccinated groups where take-up has plateaued?
Are vaccine hesitant also test hesitant?

@cricketwyvern@kevbentley If you're over 40 and have chosen to decline vaccination, would you request PCR test if you had cough, fever, or loss of smell/taste
@YeOldeHodler @buchanan17 @ClareCraigPath But it does sound like mainstream HART were up for getting their genuinely held view home even if it meant using techniques that were not so genuine, as a means to an end.
@YeOldeHodler @buchanan17 @ClareCraigPath Many found the seeding one most troubling, but it's true that it is not a disinformation plot as Clare truly seems to believe (wrongly IMO) vaccines trigger COVID and offer no overall benefit even for elderly as she did not want her 81yo dad vaccinated.

One of HART's central claims is that vaccination drove surges in deaths around the world. But looking at data for England broken down by age and region, it's clear there's absolutely no correlation (let alone causation) between them.
Merely a coincidence in timing.
HART's leaked chat logs show members falsely claimed that vaccines caused "carnage", talked about hanging nurses, suggested using unfounded concerns over fertility to put people off vaccination, and discussed ridiculous theories about 5G and magnetism.

@YeOldeHodler @buchanan17 @ClareCraigPath Be careful you will get a block if you discuss the screenshots taken from HART's internal message boards even in constructive way...

@statsjamie@TiceRichard Isn't it 3123 & that's before accounting for other years you're highlighting being 1st proper working day back while 2022 is bank hol and with largely cancelled NYE party trauma plus some elective activity postponed due to uncertainty re Omicron virulence/vaccines.
But bodes well

@DMDent The cyclical nature of waves means can cherry pick countries to snapshot compare.
Poland will have more natural immunity(see cumulative deaths) but is only just starting it's delta wave now as relaxes restrictions.
So likely to be bad again very soon if significantly low vax rate

@CopseyNan@statsjamie Double Vaccinated = 2 doses
1.9% of unvaccinated group includes those with first dose<14days.
61% of December admissions in unvaccinated group and more in some regions.
Average 14 years younger than vaccinated.
Average BMI 30.
90% independent with no severe co-morbidities.

@Joeyd87745119@CopseyNan@statsjamie I think consensus is benefit>>risk for most people >40yo especially men, pre-omicron at least.
Everyone will be exposed eventually and death isn't only end point.
Small proportion of vast numbers needing admission for O2 would still affect nonCOVID routine case for everyone else
@ClareCraigPath A hospital based transmission study is going to find the cases are sick patients.
But staff well enough to work caused 10/38 cases.
A takeaway is perhaps well, working staff are more likely to transmit to eachother when their guard is down but they are more careful with patients
@the_stinging@ClareCraigPath@bmj_latest These patients were all extremely sick (they died, most after prolonged ventilation/steroids,etc) and will not be representative.
Immunosuppressed surviving COVID patients can also harbour live virus for months.
But vast majority don't.

It isnโt mentioned that they spent on average 26 days in hospital before death, or that this all took place prior to proper vaccine rollout in the USA. Not mentioned that 82% were intubated, 14% were immunosuppressed, or that 89% received glucocorticoid therapy (GC).

@KatherineDeigh1@NoPoke@ClareCraigPath But of course it's a balance of risk and a functioning healthcare system. And the risk of severe outcome with a boosted contact working with boosted clinically vulnerable will be lower than last winter whether due to Omicron having intrinsic โฌ๏ธseverity or due to โฌ๏ธhost immunity
