@AnneOfTheBooks@janeeecharman Either this lay reader is not a real lay reader, this bishop is not a real bishop, this church is not part of the Anglican communion or you’re not telling the truth. Possibly more than one of the above.
@NormanLeedsPhD @janeeecharman@BishopJohnInge Hamas did intend to release them. Israel pulled out of the ceasefire and the phased release of hostages because the next step would have meant withdrawing its troops from Gaza, which it never intended to do.
Joe Biden has taken a decision that he thinks is in the best interests of his party and his country. Trump supporters are going to find that concept very confusing.
@liambeadle It may be true of a small number of individuals but it’s not generally true in the way @thurible is implying. And if the church treated gay people like everyone else they would behave like everyone else because they are like everyone else. I’m sure of that.
@celticwitch1995 Yes, it’s apparently so they can serve you age appropriate ads. Which of course you won’t be able to block. So if you’re over 60 and give your DOB prepare for an avalanche of ads for stair lifts and face lifts 😆
Was over in St Olaf’s only last week and the church warden told me how the fell runners were going to run to the church to honour Joss Naylor. Fitting tribute. Great man. RIP.
@mthr_jo I recently led a quiet day for a group which included several clergy about to retire. We pondered that our good deeds if any lie hidden with Christ. It’s largely accidental whether we are ever recognised for them in this life
@mthr_jo I regret the change but only because the original was a little bit clever and interesting unlike most adverts. I doubt it had an evangelistic impact 😆
What good deed would you do if you somehow came by an enormous fortune? I would open a chain of dental surgeries offering free first class treatment to those who can’t afford it
