@thesamparr Not 100%, but a guy called Robert Pera, the founder of Ubiquiti Networks ($15B market cap) owns over 87% of his company (2019 data is the latest I could find). https://t.co/uLgJgIxdeJ
@AdamLLW @Alexholva@TomGardnerFool Also, owning your distribution can increase margins.
Nike, for example, has grown DTC revenue (includes both online and offline) from 10% in 2010 to 35% in 2020. The main reasons are higher margins and better control over how their product is presented.
@AdamLLW @Alexholva@TomGardnerFool I agree that if a brand can get into a large online store/retail chain, they def should take that opportunity. But that doesn't stop them from also running their own online store (and this is where Shopify comes in).
@AdamLLW @Alexholva@TomGardnerFool A company like Gymshark is probably not interested in having to compete with off-brand leggings selling at 50% lower prices right next to theirs
@AdamLLW @Alexholva@TomGardnerFool On Amazon, a product might have 100 competitors. But if you can get the customers to your own store, there won't be any competing products you have to worry about.
@summerlinARK @sama@ARKInvest Will, I run a small YT channel focused on disruptive innovation. Would love to interview you. Let me know if you are interested.
