As an outsider of sorts on this issue, is strikes me there are no easy answers, no cure all for what afflicts so many. But talking/listening does seem like a start, so #BellLetsTalk does serve a purpose. Also, raising millions of dollars for mental health care is positive, too.
It’s really an anthem for the darkness, despair and misery of mental illness/depression/anxiety. On #BellLetsTalk, I always reflect on Given Up because it illustrates the darkness/hopelessness too many people feel. As for that great rock scream? Well, it’s pure anguish/pain.
I never gave too much thought to the song, other than I knew I liked it. Turned it up if it came on the radio or my iPod. But it was a couple of years ago, on #BellLetsTalk Day, that I really listened to and realized the full weight/magnitude of the song’s meaning.
Adam didn't realize his emotional distress was a sign of mental illness ... until the voices told him to kill himself. Now, the @McMasterSocSci grad student is working to keep other students from falling into the cracks. #BellLetsTalk#BrighterWorld https://t.co/qgPdDHyGMC
#BellLetsTalkDay Depression has tiny sharp little teeth. It often travels with its unpredictable friend, anxiety. TALK TO SOMEONE. Reach out. Don’t suffer alone. We are all in this together.
I went through some hard times in recent years but family and friends were there for me!! We can do this together!! Don’t be alone!! #BellLetsTalk#AskMeAnything
You never know what someone's going through until you walk a mile in their shoes. Today is a big day and it's so easy to help make a difference #BellLetsTalk#BeKind
Days like this #BellLetsTalk - should make everyone realize on days NOT like this - that many are quietly suffering, lonely & living in their own hell. Make mental health conversation & compassion a part of our daily lives!
On #BellLetsTalk day, when we discuss mental health and the effects of emotional trauma, I'm always grateful and proud our sport has people like @TheoFleury14 and @ShelKenn, who do so much to promote awareness and advocate for change each and every day.
If you are suffering in silence and don’t know how or who to reach out to, I do hope you find it in you to just go for it, it might be the hardest thing you will ever do, just know we are now more aware than ever, to listen to you and to help. #BellLetsTaIk
