FishProtLab at @BiologyCentre led by @IvanFiala7. We are fascinated by microscopic fish parasites, their evolution, ecology, molecular biology, and immunology.

Great visit to Petra-Aqua in Turčianske Teplice – Europe’s largest aquarium fish farm, run by our friend Petr Posel. An impressive facility full of beautiful fish! 🐠 And good news for the farmer, perhaps less so for a parasitologist 😉 – all fish we examined were parasite-free!
Great few days at the XVI Slovak and Czech Parasitological Days – Parasites in the Heart of Europe 3 in the beautiful High Tatras 🇸🇰. Great science, discussions, old and new friends, and some fun outside the lecture hall too! 🦠🏔️🍻 #parasitology
5th Marine Parasitology course in Norway 🇳🇴, organised by @Prirodoveda_JU, with our lab taking part again. Two fantastic weeks of hard work, great students and a wonderful atmosphere! #MarineParasitology#Myxozoa#Parasitology
Big congratulations to Katka and Eliška on defending their bachelor’s theses! So happy to see your hard work pay off — well done to both of you, and all the best for what comes next.
Published! 🎉Our long collaborative journey exploring Smolstatin, a cysteine protease inhibitor of the fish parasite Sphaerospora molnari, is now out in Current Research in Microbial Sciences! Many thanks to all co-authors https://t.co/gmwazlHmab @FishProtLab#SphaerosporaMolnari
Its cool to find myxozoans in the exhibition of the National Museum in Prague 🤩. Btw, see the running exhibition about Human evolution including the 3 million years old original exemplars of Lucy and Salem (Australopithecus afarensis). @narodnimuzeum
Amazing time at the International Conference on Diseases of Fish and Shellfish in Heraklion - fantastic talks & inspiring discussions. Big thanks and congrats to Astrid Holzer @fish_n_bugs for organising an excellent meeting.
We’re incredibly proud of our bachelor student, Žaneta Lešková, who received the Dean’s Award for her outstanding thesis on aquatic microsporidian diversity using an eDNA metabarcoding approach. Congratulations! @Prirodoveda_JU

The wait is over!!! Our Open Access book on Aquatic Parasitology was just published! 23 Chapters, 202 illustrations in 662 pages full of everything you ever wanted to know about the amazing world of marine & freshwater parasites. Download your copy here: https://t.co/MjFmERmkTS
Great time at the Czech traditional protistological conference 54th Protozoological Days—excellent talks, posters, and enthusiastic scientists, all set in beautiful nature by Lipno Reservoir.
Next year: Prague in a new format—can’t wait!
