BMG is steadily building momentum. Yesterday’s meeting further showed the growing coordination, organisation and political strength around Bello Muhammad Goronyo. The movement is taking shape.@bmgoronyo@AcsCongress
I watched Gen. Christopher Musa’s interview on Nasir El-Rufai, and I have to say: I found some of his comments deeply disappointing.
Not because Gen. Musa criticised a former governor. Criticism of public officials is part of democracy, and El-Rufai, like every other public official, should be open to scrutiny.
What concerns me is the weight of some of the allegations.
Musa alleged that El-Rufai deliberately planned the killing of people in Southern Kaduna and accused his administration of deliberately dividing Kaduna State. Those are not ordinary political criticisms. These are extremely serious allegations involving lives, security and the conduct of a former governor.
And this is where I believe the standard should be higher.
Gen. Christopher Musa is not an ordinary political commentator.
He is a retired General, a former Chief of Defence Staff and currently Nigeria’s Minister of Defence. His words carry institutional weight. Nigerians listen to him differently because of the office he has occupied and the experience he represents.
That is precisely why I expected more caution.
If you make an allegation as serious as saying a former governor deliberately planned killings, Nigerians deserve more than references to videos, speeches and what people allegedly know.
Show us the evidence.
What exactly happened?
When did it happen?
What evidence establishes responsibility?
What official records support the allegation?
Because once you attach responsibility for deaths to a public official, you are no longer having an ordinary political argument. You are making an allegation that deserves to be treated with the seriousness it carries.
And to be clear, asking for evidence is NOT defending El-Rufai.
You can disagree with El-Rufai's policies.
You can criticise his administration.
You can question his decisions in Kaduna.
You can discuss the insecurity and communal violence that occurred during his tenure.
But serious accusations still require serious evidence.
Today, El-Rufai's family has given Musa seven days to substantiate the allegation concerning Southern Kaduna killings or retract it.
Now let's see what happens.
For me, this should not become another APC vs opposition argument, Christian vs Muslim argument, North vs South argument, or Kaduna political fight.
The issue is much bigger:
When a senior public official makes a serious allegation against another public official, should Nigerians not demand evidence?
I believe we should.
Because if the allegation is true, the evidence matters.
And if it is not properly substantiated, that matters too.
Nigeria has suffered enough from politics driven by accusations, counter-accusations and emotionally charged narratives.
We need facts.
We need evidence.
And above all, we need public officials to understand that the higher the office you hold, the greater the responsibility attached to your words.
This is the young Nigerian Navy officer who courageously stood his ground and stopped the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, in his tracks, proving that power should never be used to intimidate others.
His name is A.M. Yarima, a son of Kaduna State, a true symbol of courage, discipline, and integrity from Northern Nigeria.
While Wike has often been accused of oppressing citizens and political opponents, God sent this brave young soldier, born with honor and raised with values, to remind him that leadership requires respect and humility.
May Almighty God bless him, elevate him to the highest ranks in the Nigerian Armed Forces, and protect him always.
Who knows him should contact me, I have $1000 for him. He's made us proud ❤️🇳🇬
