@JohnRou63401193 We have this it's called local elections. Every 2-4 years we face voters, explain why their taxes went up vs down and what they got for their money. Govts are now telling you what we have to cut ABOVE what we agreed on with voters and you make it sound like theres some free lunch
Good work by Hailey Kan digging through a pretty complex discussion about crime, homelessness, and public services. I think our investments in getting people housed and increased public safety has been strong and shown real results, but were constantly working to make it better:
UF parents are calling on local officials to examine GRACE Marketplace’s limited screening policies and whether publicly funded homelessness initiatives account for safety concerns affecting students and nearby community members.

Our whole community was really impressed by the new UF President Stuart Bell this morning. We've had a run of presidents these past few years and seeing what a professional he is and his passion for student success was a breath of fresh air.

@Rafael_A_Garzon@FLLymeDisease@UF Gainesville crime is also at a 25 year historic low. That's not politics, that's a fact. If you want answers just ask. We'll be here keeping our community safer and solving these problems.
@FLLymeDisease We have received your nearly 40 public records requests Ms Bell, we're going through them and will be responding by the process outlined in state law.
@MelOReGabLuc@GainesvilleGov@GovRonDeSantis Gainesvilles progress in reducing homelessness is tied to our investment in this best-practice, low-barrier shelter model. We get people off the street, to services, medical care and income and into a home. That makes whole our community safer. The results speak for themselves.
@FLLymeDisease If youre ready to have a real conversation with the people that dedicate their lives to these issues please let me know. In the meantime your public records requests are in our system. Have a good night Ms. Bell.
@FLLymeDisease And "UFPD only patrols campus" is only partially true. They also have overlapping jurisdiction in the areas around campus. That area has the #1 and #3 largest police departments in NCFL in it, theres no reason it shouldn't be one of the most patrolled areas in the state.
