@SusanTa73439725@TurnTexasRedd@GinaHinojosaTX Reagan found Local control broken. Why do ppl debate instead of suggesting & discussing how to FIX?????
Interesting that ppl forget that teachers always adapted to learners using 'one size fits all' classrooms & textbooks.
@akpartisan Why are ppl determined that STATES should restrict how kids learn? Why no discussion about multiple CC competitors that ANYONE can use???
IS U.S. too dumb to think outside the box???
@Backto198433421@JonathanTurley Why can't Diane Ravitch understand that NO standards (CC) or curricula are final solutions??????
James Milgram confuses mainstream (Common Core) with STEM?????????
@SusanTa73439725@TurnTexasRedd@GinaHinojosaTX DeptEd was created in 1867, became an office then a dept again in 1979! Function was & is to track success & where to improve.
Governors initiated Common Core, motivated by poor results!
Too bad ppl fight instead of focusing on how to help kids with more & better choices
@SusanTa73439725@TurnTexasRedd@GinaHinojosaTX Hard to standardize Kids is why creation of classwork, including how to teach is left to textbooks & locals.
Amazing that ppl complain about Fed & constitution instead of looking for opportunities for LOCALS to help fix local control & create more & better classroom choices!
@btmpb My point is AI is just like any other tool.
Be in control, & not become dependent on it!
One application was medical diagnosis in 1980s. DOUBLE CHECK!
Like Common Core methods that 'show work', learn mental math or count change.
Don't just compare with trad math!
@DavidBingenhei1@StephenKing@grok I remember some students taking notes then asking me to explain. They were focused on note taking rather than paying attention in class.
I thought it would be great then to have videos. Recent debates indicate technology is still not exploited sufficiently.
@DavidBingenhei1@StephenKing@grok I made your observations decades ago!
The focus was on theory, not practice!
That is why education changed & standards upped the expectations.
Common Core opponents complain that including applications means leaving out basics.
No wonder even Reagan complained!
@DavidBingenhei1@dan85895877@StephenKing Politics is great to show efforts focus on divisive debates rather than productive discussions.
Listening to & cooperating with opposition is treated as caving!!!
@DavidBingenhei1@StephenKing@grok It is obvious you haven't looked at traditional trades where apprentices spend years learning trades.
Formal training is more organized but focused on memorizing as thinking & applying knowledge takes time.
PPL complain about strange, complex homework to stimulate minds.
@dan85895877@DavidBingenhei1@StephenKing AI is good at fact checking! Trouble is ppl trust opinions even when biased or based on popular talking points or opinions!
Can't remember when ppl understood how to think! Recent comments confuse teaching how with what to think.
@MartinCothran Why blame progressives when most efforts are objective, unbiased?
Most bias comes from local choices! Contact publishers & locals like my generation figured out!
@Amazingjason2@avidseries Teachers have complained about needing effective meaningful classwork to support standards like Common Core. Too bad ppl judge based on classwork, not CC requirements.
@t_swampfox1776@OwenShroyer1776 Trump & GOP say can't trust machine counting so many more live ppl (& costly) needed.
Too bad ppl don't know that ppl & machines can double check each other.
Rare to find ppl who can think recently!
@CollegeFix Employers made that same observation in 1974, claiming grads needed remedial training. Unfortunately, many want easy classwork instead of stimulating minds with meaningful challenging issues, like ancient Greek philosophy!
@Arlieth@Slash5150 Even Reagan noticed employers & colleges complained about math illiterate grads in 1974 & foreign students called U.S. schools a joke!
