Everyday Struggle was lowkey the best thing going. If Joe and Ak could reboot + have an equivalent focused more on the up and coming sector, thatโd be fire. Maybe even a section that was more R&B centric. That First Take approach between generational perspectives was golden.
The part you donโt be hearing about is bad / inexperienced / uncooperative management teams. Poor money management. Lack of actual direction / execution, fan engagement, consistency.

Seeing convos about artistsโ experiences with labels and disconnects in regards to brand/vision.. the comments are all sarcastic and whatnot about how labels only entertain stereotypes etc but the reality is if consumers were showing up for these artists thereโd be no resistance.
That said, Iโm not saying the experience wasnโt challenging for them.. or even disjointed to some degrees. But Iโve sat in these rooms, on calls, had dinners, traveled the country to advocate for and support some of these folks. And know some label folks who really rode for them.
