Amazing opportunity for early career scientist to present their work and for everyone to hear about the latest advances in the field! Please consider nominating (or self nominate) a speaker and register for The Future of Neuroethology webinar series!
@VivekNityananda @puh23 @ChrisRReid1@maththrills @pipilika_aj @neurobongo@QldBrainInst@hemmi_lab We did, in 2018, study is unpublished because we were told by reviewer that we needed to put glasses on the fly ad the only way to demonstrate that they do use stereopsis. We are taking about a 6 mm long insect.
Congratulations to all of the 2022 JEB Outstanding Paper Prize shortlisted authors and Samuel Fabian @samueltfabian and Mary Sumner, the award winners from @FlySy_Lab,

When @neuroethology #icn2022lisbon and the visual field giants are gathered in front of you… Eric warrant, Herman Wagner, Justin Marshall, Barrie Frost, Jack Pettigrew, Tom cronin…
and thinking of Michael Land of course.
Robber flies intercept their victims on the wing and now @samueltfabian and @FlySy_Lab have discovered that the aeronauts use a simultaneous combination of obstacle avoidance with their conventional interception strategy to bring down dinner

New open access paper out on the wonderful Gnat Ogre (Holcocephala fusca), with @FlySy_Lab, in @J_Exp_Biol . In it, you can find out how these tiny killers deal with physical obstacles on their way to hunt lunch on the wing. 1/6

Yes, 2020 is mad. But there is also great things: @DrKateFeller is starting as an Assitant Professor at union college!!!!
Not only she is an incredible scientist, she is also an amazing artist. I will update with pics of this, most awesome lab present, on the lab wall.
Mantis shrimp male good life coaches.
A little embroidered piece I made for for my mentor, friend, and colleague @FlySy_Lab
Thanks for the memories! #mantisshrimp
Hey! 📢 Let's make the planned furloughs at the Uni fair.
The proposed plan hits the lower earners the hardest (rate of cuts is highest for lowest earners).
THIS IS NOT OK. There is an alternative 👇
Interesting observations on proposed faculty furloughs: 1) Rate of cuts increase faster for <$100K salaries than $100-300K range; 2) Median salary of plan creators is $220K. "Unflatten the curve" to save the same amount, but in a more equitable way. https://t.co/fMpHls0HNQ
Our mayfly paper on the genomic adaptations to aquatic&terrestrial habitats & on the origin of insect wings is finally out in @NatureComms. Great work w/ @fcasfer

@Pselaphinae Thank you! It was good news amidst a challenging term. Hope you are all keeping safe and sane. What is Caltech doing with regards to TT clocks and PhD programs? Is it providing extensions and stipends?
1/n How about some fireflies to start the weekend?
Thrilled to share our first firefly preprint on “Spatiotemporal reconstruction of emergent flash synchronization in firefly swarms” https://t.co/3qQLAcqyOm
