As a youth football coach, my team training will ALWAYS include these fundamentals:
Goals • Opponents • Balls • Defending • Transitions • Attacking • Restarts • Teammates ⚽
It’s worrying to see sessions that miss some of these. Every activity should have purpose.
What’s non-negotiable in your sessions? 👇🏼
Somali football in last 6 months alone:
- Men’s team progressed to the AFCON qualifiers.
- Referee selected to the World Cup after being awarded ‘African referee of the year’.
- Women’s professional football established.
- U17 performed incredibly at CECAFA.
Progress ⏳🇸🇴
Eight-year-old Abdallah tragically lost his mother in December.
His foster family reached out to the @AVFCFoundation and on Wednesday night, he attended his first game at Villa Park and got to walk out with his favourite player: Ollie Watkins. 💜
I'm happy to announce that I've been awarded a fully funded place by The Football Association on the UEFA C, I'll be doing my course at Rectory Park. It will be another learning opportunity for me to grow as a coach and help the players I work with.
@Andybravery2 There's only one scheme for supporting the finance aspect of it. Yes there's criterias such as social/economic background, ethnicity and gender. This is what I understand. I believe the scheme exists for all the licenses. The scheme runs in line with the application windows.
Look at the joy on @MohamedASalad's face as he reacts to Somalia playing friendlies this month in preparation for their World Cup Qualifiers. When can Eritreans experience this joy?
Since 2008, Eritrea have played in exactly SIX official games. When will we ever see a change?
This maybe the most important advice on building an organisation 👇
🗣"We get the right people, not the best people. Because sometimes the best people are arseholes, sometimes the best people are self centred, sometimes the best people aren't team players. So you get the right people, that's important"
