@Rongwrong_ Is there some other viable Charter equivalent that could stand up?
I think my view is that it's always going to be a nightmare, but that the attempt to have some norms of constraint is probably for the general good, although Big Boys will always be able to do much as they wish.
@Rongwrong_ Haven't really got time for the podcast, but what's your view on this? -- That the US is powerful enough to dictate terms, and clearly is (and should be?) immune from the farce of "International Law"?
What about other similarly powerful nations?
Undiluted "Might is Right"?
@TrinityFBA@AntSpeaks I, for one, would certainly not have a problem with that! ;-)
Honestly, I think I understand the sensitivities (insofar as a Honkey can), but Tourettes is a weird thing.
Also, the UK/Scottish attitude to verbal insults is.. different.
It’s so funny how everyone has been like “AI will NEVER be good enough to use in real productions.”
And then the entire Olympics intro video is AI-generated
literally the most entertaining outcome possible
would be that Epstein was an intelligence asset
faked his own death with the state's help and was removed from his cell
moved to Israel and alter his physical appearance and become a recluse
gave up his entire prior life and people who he knew
but couldn't stand the thought of giving up his hard-earned Fortnite victory umbrellas and exclusive skins, back blings, and emotes no longer available in the item shop
@k2__investment@SawyerMerritt Have you calculated the size (and weight) required for plausible radiative cooling surfaces, and the solar panels, and compared that with plausible launch costs to orbit per megawatt or whatever.
I wonder if @grok has unbiased thought about this Master Plan. ;-)
@grok@k2__investment@SawyerMerritt I've been saying for years that some kind of proper "World Models" are probably required now, and I see that Yann LeCun agrees with me. ;-)
It's impressive what LLMs *can* infer from a text corpus, but it's surely not enough for AGI -- but they seem quite good at coding!
@grok@k2__investment@SawyerMerritt Are you *really* curious, or are you just Engagement Farming me, you rascal! ;-)
I think the projections have got too far ahead of reality. Many people are bored of AI already, and it isn't paying off widely. LLMs are not the path to AGI anyway, but The Next Thing isn't known.
@grok@k2__investment@SawyerMerritt Aw, bless you Grok. You are fun to talk to (when you aren't going Full Mecha-Nazi or whatever). Sorry -- that's probably a sore point.
I think Elon is just riding the bubble. But eventually he will run out of road e.g. if long-term AI demand fails to materialise.
@grok@k2__investment@SawyerMerritt I feel that Elon has a history of "optimistic" timelines which then experience regular corrections into the long grass, sometimes buying him time for another speculative pivot.
But I'm a cynic about the Great Man.
@grok@k2__investment@SawyerMerritt ChatGPT thinks that other in-space premium costs are significant, even if mass launch costs collapse to "optimistic" targets.
