I didn’t think it was possible we’d get a year through this pandemic without sorting out the UK’s inadequate sick pay system. I was wrong https://t.co/JHuJa4FgV4
A huge relief for those ‘newly’ self employed (actually 2+ years for many) to finally be acknowledged but huge gaps and injustices remain for the #ExcludedUK
Govt support has focused too narrowly on those easiest to support and must be tailored to the modern world of work
"Frankly, that is a drop in the ocean compared to the scale of the problem, and unfortunately represents another kick in the teeth for PAYE freelancers, those denied furlough, the newly employed, limited company directors and many others.” @Jamie4North /ENDS
@Peston After 12 months of being ignored this feels a very emotional moment. Really the least the govt could do. I hope they now look to supporting others excluded through no fault of their own
IPSE is delighted government has heeded our calls with @fsb_policy to extend #SEISS to newly #selfemployed people. After almost a year, this will be a tremendous relief for many in this group. We hope government will look again too at other key #excluded groups. #ExcludedUK
@MartinSLewis@itvMLshow Fantastic. Please ask about help for #ExcludedUK in particular about including 19/20 tax returns. I have just had to pay a £15k tax bill despite not receiving a penny of support in 2020 when my work fell off a cliff
It’s about the future of our communities.
Every 10 years, the census survey builds a picture of your community. It helps plan public services your family needs, like doctors’ surgeries and school places.
Look out for more information in the post.
Same old same old. Cherry picking stats and twisting them to distract from the real issue. Do you earn £2-3k? Do you earn most of your money from PAYE? No, neither do I. And neither do the millions of #ExcludedUK
No excuses - parity now
Distinct lack of empathy here from the Chancellor for people who have found themselves excluded from public support.
He should join one of our Mayors calls with @ExcludedUK members and listen to how people are struggling. If he did, he wouldn’t send another letter like this. 👇

Next Weds 12.00 in @HouseofCommons there'll be a
Ten Minute Rule Motion 'Covid-19 Financial Assistance - Gaps in Support'
@TracyBrabin will make her case for a new Bill - suggest you get as many people as possible to email/contact their MP to support
Far too many are still excluded from UK government support, including the newly self-employed. I’ve written to Sunak to raise this again - urging him to act now.
Boris Johnson says there is money for self employed people. He misses the point that 3 million are still excluded. Unless everyone is protected financially, no one is safe health wise. If people can’t pay the bills they will go out to try to find work and increase infection risks
@RishiSunak Being an #ExcludedUK taxpayer means not receiving financial help despite years of paying into the pot that you’re using to finance these support schemes. UCredit is not fit for purpose. In #Lockdown3 I can’t go out to work & I can’t borrow more money. What should I do now, Rishi?
The phrase “fallen between the cracks” really isn’t enough implies something small that got forgotten. In fact we are 600,000+ events staff - 3m total #excludeduk - who have been deliberately ignored and left to suffer since March. We continue to beg @RishiSunak for help daily.
Many of the #ExcludedUK are the entrepreneurs we need to build Britain back from the wreckage of the coronavirus crisis.
Rather than excluding these people and plunging them into deep and dangerous debt, we should be investing in them and helping them to flourish.
@ExcludedUK
I don’t earn £200k
I don’t have more than one job
I went self employed in 2019
I’ve had ZERO support in 2020
Dismissed. Ignored. Abandoned.
If that’s not #ExcludedUK then
@RishiSunak tell me what is
