Unruly Capital is a London-based venture firm that backs early-stage founders building transformative tech.
Focusing on health, climate, manufacturing, and frontier tech, @unrulyvc's approach to data transparency sets them apart from many VCs.

Can Claude Code design proteins?
We're just about to release our wet lab API + SDK so we made a quick demo to test how agents can interact with protein design models and submit the proteins to our lab for testing.
This closes the loop between the computational design and the experiment validation
We queued up a bunch of agent-designed proteins for wet lab validation, will release the results in a couple weeks on @proteinbase
Today we are excited to publish our first results and what we’ve learned so far in building the autonomous tissue foundry (blog post linked below).
Human tissue is one of the most valuable materials on Earth and we believe there is now a clear path to producing it at scale and at high margin.
Some early highlights from our first two programs (cortical and cardiac):
• 700 tissue constructs cultured, monitored, and analyzed over time
• 2.9M individual cells quantified through our AI phenotyping pipeline
• 60% and 49% improvement in hit rates across the two programs
• 94% and 68% reduction in search space
• Same platform transferred across tissue types, minimal retuning shows proof of concept of generalization
• 54% improvement in program speed from first to second tissue type
• >70% reduction in cost per experiment from first to last iteration
Instead of trying to fully decode morphogenesis upfront, we constrain the problem using developmental datasets, then let AI-guided, lab-in-the-loop optimization discover what works. Each iteration closes in weeks, generating reusable datasets that compound over time.
Our first post in a two-part series walks through our initial results and how we achieved control of a critical structural feature of natural tissue, polarity, across two distinct lineages with minimal retuning.
In the next post, we’ll focus on the unit economics of an autonomous tissue foundry.

Mind-blowing scoop this morning on Polyphron.
They're building human tissue - ie parts of organs - to replace diseased and damaged parts of the body.

Today we're very excited to share the new, updated investment thesis for Unruly Capital.
Population decline is the #1 trend of the century - and what will shape the world in the coming decades.
At Unruly, we've been thinking about (and investing in) this for a while, and believe there is not much more important than this to focus on if you have a long term view of the world.
We took some time to write down what is happening, why, and what we can do about it. Would love to hear your comments on it.
