Though if people are building in high fire-risk zones, just like building on flood planes here in the UK - its surely asking for trouble.

I don't see why you're calling for a Surrey wide moratorium on *everything*... even just drilling a well. I haven't seen you propose any reason to back that up. So I'm just asking here.

@stugilfillan @BritGeoSurvey @seismo_steve I believe in the US they've not even go so far. Oklahoma introduced regulations on waste injection for example, it didn't ban all drilling. In Lancs the moratorium was put in place after a study concluded Caudrilla likely caused it.

@stugilfillan @BritGeoSurvey @seismo_steve I've read the link you provided. Nowhere does the BGS call for the complete end of the E&P in the whole of Surrey. It just says 'are not able to say if there is a connection between oil and gas activities, or any other man-made activities' (whatever they are).

@stugilfillan @BritGeoSurvey @seismo_steve What data have you used to rule in drilling the HH1 well years ago as the causal link to the seismics to include the drilling within a moratorium? You must have a hypothesis as to what might have happened, surely, to want to include it in a moratorium? Else how will you test it?

Just ask for a moratorium on the waste injection? Do you even have a model of how drilling Horse Hill years ago has caused it?

I can see a precautionary argument for the waste injection at Brockham, sure. But thats a single part of a larger industry.
