Me and Jackie celebrating her return to @UKLabour after she’d been suspended for saying “Jews were the chief financiers of the slave trade”. I’m not sure how she got off that charge, but I’m so very sure there was no interference in the process.
BREAKING Labour backs down and drops disciplinary action against Dame Margaret Hodge, Jewish News reveals.
Wonder if it has anything to do with her saying she's prepared to take Jeremy Corbyn to court to prove he's an anti-Semite under IHRA definition?
@titaniumhattie@BjornLomborg I like this reply. Though I don't see anything on the graph for a massive and out of control situation today compared to the past either. Though if people are building in high fire-risk zones, just like building on flood planes here in the UK - its surely asking for trouble.
@stugilfillan@BritGeoSurvey @seismo_steve I can see the argument for a pause on injection at Brockham - that I see. I don't see why you're calling for a Surrey wide moratorium on *everything*... even just drilling a well. I haven't seen you propose any reason to back that up. So I'm just asking here.
@stugilfillan@BritGeoSurvey @seismo_steve Here you're saying, what?, you don't know, don't have a model, aren't proposing a causal link, but shut down the whole thing anyway? Again, the study showed Caudrilla caused it, here the BGS state they're not sure what did???
@stugilfillan@BritGeoSurvey @seismo_steve I believe in the US they've not even go so far. Oklahoma introduced regulations on waste injection for example, it didn't ban all drilling. In Lancs the moratorium was put in place after a study concluded Caudrilla likely caused it.
@stugilfillan@BritGeoSurvey @seismo_steve I've read the link you provided. Nowhere does the BGS call for the complete end of the E&P in the whole of Surrey. It just says 'are not able to say if there is a connection between oil and gas activities, or any other man-made activities' (whatever they are).
@stugilfillan@BritGeoSurvey @seismo_steve What data have you used to rule in drilling the HH1 well years ago as the causal link to the seismics to include the drilling within a moratorium? You must have a hypothesis as to what might have happened, surely, to want to include it in a moratorium? Else how will you test it?
@stugilfillan@BritGeoSurvey @seismo_steve Then why sign for people in exploratory drilling to lose their jobs? Its not their fault if waste injection at one site is causing problems. Just ask for a moratorium on the waste injection? Do you even have a model of how drilling Horse Hill years ago has caused it?
@stugilfillan@BritGeoSurvey @seismo_steve Why have families lose their jobs in the drilling industry though if you cite no direct link. Do you have a model you can suggest for just drilling? I can see a precautionary argument for the waste injection at Brockham, sure. But thats a single part of a larger industry.
No, the US is not burning out of control - it is burning much less.
2018 will likely see 9% area burnt compared to each year in early 1900s.
Two estimates of US area burnt, 1900-2018 (full 2018 estimated by 59.8% burn by Aug 3)

As eNGOs lie to the public in their efforts to ban GM crops, here is what happens when GM crops are banned. Lower crop yields means less overall production, resulting in fewer exports, less economic growth and fewer jobs. It's time to ask eNGOs why they want to kill jobs.
Please stop the misleading fire stories:
The US is smouldering less, not more
2018 will likely see burnt area one-sixth of the US record

We don't just use natural gas in winter. Even when the sun's out, gas is providing 40% of our electricity, keeping on 61% of our stoves and maybe even firing up your barbecue. And that's skipping over its industrial uses... #summer#naturalgas

On Corbyn's "I didn't know their views" defence. He shared a platform with Dyab About Jahjah and said he didn't know his views. He gave money to Paul Eisen, and he said he didn't know his views. He said he didn't know Raed Salah's views. Or Elleanne Green's. See the pattern here.
