Kenya and France enjoy a strong and longstanding partnership, with cooperation spanning development, investment, infrastructure and economic transformation.

This relationship has continued to deepen, including through the Africa Forward Summit, co-hosted in Nairobi earlier this year, when Kenya became the first non-Francophone country to host the Summit.

Since 1997, the French Government, through the French Treasury and Agence Française de Développement (AFD), has financed projects in Kenya amounting to approximately €3 billion, covering energy, education, transport, water and sanitation, environment, and public finance management reforms.

Welcomed H.E. Wadid Benaabou, the new French Ambassador to Kenya, to the National Treasury, where we reviewed our bilateral economic cooperation and discussed opportunities to further strengthen the partnership.

Last Saturday, French Ambassador @wadidbenaabou joined the Children Sickle Cell Foundation in Nairobi for a day of football, teamwork and raising awareness. 🇰🇪⚽🇫🇷

Sickle cell disease remains one of the most neglected public health challenges in Africa, with a major impact on children, families and health systems.

🇫🇷 is committed to supporting the fight against sickle cell disease, providing €2.3 million through the @AFD_France @AFD_en to fight against sickle cell disease through early and neonatal screening, access to essential medicines and quality care, training health professionals, and strengthening patient organisations and community actors. This project is implemented in Kenya and Tanzania from 2025 to 2028 in partnership with the @FondationPFabre.🩺

On Sept. 9-10, the International #ParisSpaceSummit brought together the global space community 👨🏾‍🚀.

For 2 days, discussions focused on:
🌍 the global space economy – 51 announcements, totalling nearly €20 billion, were committed;
🛡️ space security through dialogue, defence and partnerships;
🚀 an international approach to science, technology and exploration – organizing space traffic, protecting frequencies, ensuring that scientific data remains open and accessible.

🇰🇪🇫🇷 The same spirit applies to the Franco-Kenyan spatial cooperation.

🛰️ On May 2026, @SpaceAgencyKE (KSA) partnered with the French satellite connectivity specialist @skynopy_space to integrate one ground station in Nairobi 📡. Supported by @FrTr_Kenya , this project will:
✅ optimize the use of data from the Kenyan satellite;
✅ generate additional revenue for Kenya Space Agency that will be able to use an additional satellite in its ground station;
✅ and make this infrastructure available to the African space ecosystem.

This project was showcased in the heart of Paris, Le Grand Palais, where the summit was held 💪����.
