Angelino in exile in Austin.
i'm obsessed with AI DIY projects.
my favorite one right now is this broccoli farmer in hokkaido, japan using Codex to run his 100-hectare farm
this guy never studied agriculture, never inherited land, started out as a civil servant.
but he wanted his farm to run better, and instead of paying an engineering firm he couldn't afford, he just built the tools himself.
here's what he's built on his own:
> remote control of his greenhouse vents from a chat app, wired up with an esp32 board, a motor driver, and cloudflare workers
> a bot that checks each greenhouse's temperature and opens the vents when it gets too hot
> satellite crop-health data laid over a map of his own fields
> an airtable base linking his plots, tasks, materials, and sensors
> wiring diagrams of his electrical panels, generated from a photo
stuff like this used to be locked behind machinery and engineers only the big agribusinesses could pay for.
but this legend just breezed past all of it with a laptop and Codex lol
Realising Apple went public at under $2 billion and 15 times revenue in 1980.
SpaceX wants you to buy at $2 trillion and 100 times revenue in 2026.
That is not getting in early. That is being the exit for venture capitalists who have held this equity for years at a fraction of what you are being asked to pay.
Almost none of the retail investors buying this IPO will read the 300 pages before the book closes on June 11.
That is your entire competitive advantage right there.
With release of GPT 5.6 probably being sooner than later at this point I feel like a few things need to be handled with it:
1. the problem with Codex getting extremely slow after usage really needs a fix
i built something to solve this, and it works perfectly, but they need to have something like that officially imo, without this i don't know how i'd be able to use codex all this time
https://t.co/HJXOKxrAEa
2. the full acess system is buggy
every other day my codex gets bugged and i have to manually start approving things or push codex to fix that with code, the full acess option when selected needs to overthrow all other conditions
3. when you use image generation inside codex its great for design
but the problem with what i described in no1 becomes a big issue, the more you use image gen inside codex the app becomes unusable because of archiving not correctly structured
4. the designs with codex is a hit or miss
i'd say a workflow for planning designs would get GPT 5.6 to a much better degree, most people don't know how to invoke image gen inside Codex, and if you don't invoke it, designs are just not as good
when someone is wanting to work on designs it should invoke image gen auto with a design planning function imo, this would fill the gap for all the users, coupled with archiving problem solved in no3 it would be a much better experience
5. finally i would say one thing that would be a total gamechanger:
let people be able to build their own preferences for how they want configs to work all around, about archiving, about image gen invokations, about how to set the agent usage (by default Codex almost never spawns agents unless you say it so), and have a system for configurations to be human readable through one single interface that makes you go through Questions to set it up, and let those run always run in each new session
I'm sure coding experience will get even more amazing with 5.6 but if these are solved too, the experience will be a whole lot better imo

We're fixing a codex bug today that was causing us to undercount tokens being served to some Pro and Plus accounts by a small amount. This impacted < 15% of accounts.
Not the kind of bug you want us to fix, but didn't want to do this silently and thought you should know.
@burackbobby_ That's odd. The community note says Wemby is at attention but he's actually not. The correct position at attention is standing up straight and with your arms straight down. If I just look up the correct position of attention
saw a homeless man in downtown austin today with plastic bags tied around his hands and feet.
the biggest lie we’ve told ourselves is that leaving severely mentally ill people on the streets is somehow more humane than treating them.
we need to have an honest conversation about bringing back mental health institutions.
@LASHYBILLS Back in my day the worst we did was do a fake fall on the way to picking up your diploma. It was supposed to be a funny thing not a sexual depravity act.
And if you are not a solo founder and don’t want to go in that direction, you can still tell your story on X to get a lot of opportunities.
This is how I started here.
In 2019, I first started learning web development during my computer science undergrad. I used to post my daily learning here with full honesty about how bad things were in my life before that.
I did the same thing for the next 3 to 6 months. Learn one topic in web dev, post about it here, repeat.
I got my first job via a DM on X.
Then I published an ebook that made me $10K in 24 hours. Back then, $10K was a huge amount for me because I never had a bank balance more than $1K lol.
So yes, telling your story on X is essentially free user acquisition and free opportunity acquisition.
Aww dude I was thinking about taking my kid here! I didn’t know they were using trans performers there’s no way I can ever take my kid or family there. This is crazy! Well time to tell the wife and show her this video…sucks because there’s barely anything for kids in Texas. We’re hoping to move back to LA if Pratt wins.
