September 15, 2023, remains one of the most satisfying days of my tenure as Chief Minister. It gave me the joy of knowing that I had done something truly good for the people of Andhra Pradesh. From 1923 to 2019, the state had only 12 government medical colleges. But during our term alone, we took up the ambitious task of establishing 17 medical colleges at one go.
As part of this effort, on September 15, 2023, we inaugurated medical colleges in Vizianagaram, Rajahmundry, Eluru, Machilipatnam, and Nandyal, marking a historic step forward in strengthening public healthcare. These five colleges alone added 750 MBBS seats, which was a source of immense satisfaction for me. Along with this, the medical colleges in Paderu and Pulivendula were also made ready for admissions.
However, instead of completing the construction of the remaining 10 medical colleges, the present government is trying to hand them over to private entities. This is a grave injustice to the people. Citizens across the state are opposing this move, and we strongly demand that the government immediately withdraw such an attempt.

During the five year period, 2019-24, the then opposition parties TDP and JSP continuously lied that the then Government’s policies were resulting in unchecked growth in liabilities and that, the Capital expenditure in crucial sectors was negligible and that, the State Government revenues were growing at a slower pace indicating economic slowdown. In fact the TDP and JSP committed to the electorate that they would ensure that the State Government revenues grow very rapidly and that State debt would grow a very slow pace, in their Government.
A mere glance at the performance of the TDP alliance Government on fiscal front, exposes their failures. During the financial year 2024-25, the year-on-year growth of State Government’s own revenues (including tax revenues and non-tax revenues) was only 3.08%. This is with respect to the fiscal year during which provisional estimates of the Central Government for India’s GDP growth during 2024-25 is 9.8% and the corresponding growth of Central Government revenues is 12.04%. However, if AP’s economy is really growing at a pace of 12.02% as falsely claimed by the TDP alliance Government, why would the State Government revenues growth be as low as 3.08%?
I am sure, many would have expected that, during the current fiscal year 2025-26 there would be some level of recovery and that the State revenues would demonstrate a good growth over the already subdued revenues during 2024-25. However, during the first four months of this fiscal year, the year-on-year growth indicates continuity of the same distress. Goods and Service Tax and Sales Tax reflect consumption and the aggregate of the GST revenues and Sales Tax revenues were lower during the first four months of this Financial year when compared with the corresponding period last year, the performance during which was already subdued.
If we take into consideration, the CAGR of revenues over the first four months of the two year period 2023-24 to 2025-26, the situation is even more distressing with the State’s own revenues growing at only 2.39%, when compared with a figure that should normally have been around 10%
Another aspect is the State debt. Even if all categories of debt are taken into consideration i.e. public debt, public account, State Government guaranteed PSU debt and non-State Government guaranteed PSU debt, the growth of liabilities during the five year period 2019-2024 is Rs. 3,32,671 crores. However, the aggregate liabilities contracted during the first 14 months of the TDP alliance Government is worryingly high at Rs. 1,86,361 crores (56% of what previous Government borrowed over a five year period). With revenue growth being very low and debt increasing at astronomical rate, the @ncbn alliance Government must seriously rethink on their Governance model leading to rampant corruption prevalent at all levels.

Einstein slept nearly 10 hours a day. He valued the significance of quality sleep for maintaining his well-being. His sleep routine, though, was out of the ordinary.
He regularly indulged in brief daytime naps, occasionally more than once a day. These quick naps, lasting just a few minutes, were thought by Einstein to revitalize his mental energy and creative thinking.
He felt that these short periods of rest gave him a renewed viewpoint to solve intricate scientific challenges.

This Diwali wasn't very pleasant for us.
Moments after this photo was taken, my mum's saree caught fire while she was lighting diyas. She cried for help and our neighbours rushed.
But by the time we put it out, her elbow and left hand was severely burnt along with mild burns on her back. We took some OTC measures and then rushed to a hospital where the doctors gave her injections and dressed the wounds.
The doc has prescribed a 5-day course and reassured there's nothing to worry about. This incident is quite personal and I don't feel like talking about it much.
So why I am writing this post?
I had a realization yesterday (which I really feel everyone should think about).
1. It is so so important to have friends with a certain expertise — medical, law, etc. You never know at what time of the day you may need someone to pull you out of a mess.
When we were taking OTC measures, I straight up called a friend and sent her photos of the burn. Amidst the Diwali chaos, she made herself available and assisted me with the right measures.
Without her inputs, I think I would have really panicked.
2. Anything can happen anytime (god forbid) and you won't realise until reality is in your face. Show love and care more often.
Parents are a different breed. While I was taking her to the hospital, she was really upset because she felt "Mere karan tum log ki bhi diwali kharab ho gayi. Tu chale jaa ab tere friends se milne, itna kuch nhi hua hai".
3. You don't have to be a believer to accept the concept of faith. While I always argue about the existence of some "divine power", I noticed my mom saying "aarti kari thi islie badi bala chhote me tal gayi".
It's crazy how she was kinda relieved even after such a huge incident because of her faith in god.
Ps. Because I had this experience, I really gave a lot of weight to these thoughts but in the retrospect, I think all of this is reasonably valid and everyone should think about it once. And probably give a hug to their loved ones.
